UNICON XI, 25 July

I have posted some photos from UNICON XI first day Thursday 25 July. It starts with the Iron Horse Trail Ride on which I think we had 24 riders. There are a couple of cool shots inside the railroad tunnel.

There are some from the opening ceremonies and then some from the public show. Zach Vaughn launches himself over four trusting friends in photo #80 or so. Somewhere towards the end of those guys doing 540 degree uni spins and other impossible stuff.

Really cool shots! Thanks for keeping us up to date by posting all
the photos Harper - much appreciated.

Also, just wondered about air pressure when you are riding terrain
like that on the Iron Horse Trail. What would folks on a 24 inch tire

  • that is if any 24’s rode the trail - have had there tire pressure
at? I like riding these sort of trails and am not sure if I should
leave my tire at the 50 psi that I have it at for riding on the
    regular road surface.

thanks for any help with this,

Erin

Harper,

What are the white-robed figures supposed to be in pic 60 and 61?

My co-worker thought they looked like HAZ/MAT Klansmen. Scary.

I’m sure there is some explanation, but I admit I’m curious about that.

Those look like clean room garbs aka bunny suits. You wear them in chip fabrication enviroments, it doesn’t attract dust. Their hoods are on the outside though.

Intel commericals had guys dancing around in those suits a while back.

They carried out Dustin’s 10 foot giraffe, held the giraffe while he climbed up to mount it, and then caught it when he dismounted.

Those are the guys that brought in Dustin Kelm’s tall giraffe. It’s in the 10 to 15 foot range. The impression you’re supposed to get is that it is dangerous even to handle.

Erin-

I probably had 35-40 psig in my tire. I left it just like I do for road riding. Mine was a Coker. John Foss rode Jack Halpern’s Coker which started out with what seemed to be a Mega-pascal or so. He let some air out part way along the ride. We had several 24’s and 26’s on the ride. I think there was one 28" with 1" or 1.5" wide tire who kept up. Still, the Coker was the ideal unicycle for this ride.
