Unicon X

I’ve looked at the appropriate URLs, and I’ve found a dearth of information on
Unicon X. Here’s what I’ve gathered so far:

  1. It will be held in Bejing
  2. It will be in early August If I might go (my mom and I were planning to go
to China this summer, and what better opportunity)! Is there any more
concrete information I might get? Address, hotels, dates, other people who
    are going? Thanks so much!

A very excited Jake Cooper

PS- I fully plan on being the worst unicyclist to travel halfway around the
world to attend a unicycling convention. I’m still working on riding backwards
and idling. I just have to promise myself not to juggle, just to unicycle.
Maybe I won’t bring any juggling stuff…

there should be some details there. It will be updated later this month.

Address It will be held in a very large Sports Center in West Beijing. It is
called something like Shinzindeng if you have access to a map. It is not the one
stated in the web page. All 4 IUF Officers and Directors who met in Beijing last
month accorded to the change. It is a very capable facility, with huge
spectators capacity, and they plan to fill it up. All activities are very close
to each other. Very close to the subway station that will take you to Downtown
Beijing and Tiananmen Square, the Forbidden City, etc. Yes, they allow unicycles
at the subway.

hotels, The main hotel is a budget hotel right across the street from the sports
facilities. We checked it and it is good enough. There are pictures and I hope
that they will be posted to the web page. There are several options, think about
$15 to $20 per person per night. There is a more luxurious hotel a couple of
miles away for any Director who might be honeymooning. This will be at a
somewhat higher price, but still much less than what we are accustomed.

dates, Still August 1 to 8. Do plan to extend it, before and after. Think of
at least a total of two weeks. There will be plenty of tours offering at
budget prices.

other people who are going? Our initial estimates were 200 non-Chinese from
15 different countries. Initial reaction indicates that it will be much more
than that.

Thanks so much!

Believe me, you will improve at UNICON beyond your widest expectations.

If you like juggling, China is the right place to go. If you like juggling,
consider buying some stuff there to take back. You may want to bring any prop
you are especially proud of.

It is the Shijinshan Sports Center. The Unicon X FAQ has the details.
