100, 400, 800,1500 and 10k if I remember correctly. I believe they will have a
Muni race  UMX style.

Don’t forget to put 125 cranks on it and the largest 24" tyre with a smooth
tread on it you can find. Have a look at the regs to check exactly what you can
do. Also add weight to the tyre/rim heavy is good. It is worth noting that a
26x1 road tyre will conform with the 24" regs, just! talk to Leo on that one.

basically have fun!

What kind of times do other adult women get for 100m - 1 km track races on unis?
I’ve never track raced before and want to know what kind of time would be
realistic to aim for. I’ve found a velodrome locally where I can use the track
when its empty but I will not have any training surport or time kepping apart
from a stop watch. Any avid racers got any tips? I’ll be on a 24 inch.

I’m going to beat John Foss to this reply. Unicycles and velodromes don’t
work very well. See #13 on John’s “Things Not To Do” page at

Sarah, UniCoastie, I didn’t see Sarah’s original post, here in the email version
of the newsgroup. But these are the sizes I use. For track and straight-ahead
racing, 125mm (5"). This gives a little more speed, but less leverage. So I
don’t use that for everything. My main all-around street unicycle is a 24" with
140mm (5.5") cranks. This one gets used for the Obstacle Course, basketball, and
other events where you need more leverage. It also works well for MUni,
depending on the terrain.

There is a unicycle records page somewhere that John Foss has made.

I would say first aim for 16 seconds, eventually 15. That’s very fast. The world
record for men is around 13.

Hi Sarah (and everyone else). I have an additional "uni racing" question
(for gals or guys). For 24 inch unis, what is the standard pedal crank sizes
used? I've got a 24 inch uni, and I was curious if I happened to have the
right size ones. Thanks in advance.
