Uni Riders needed for parade

I have an entry in the Watkinsville, Georgia (USA) Christmas parade. This
Saturday Dec. 8, at 11:00 am. Anyone that would like to bring their uni
and join us is welcome. I was given a prime spot #15, near the front,
(ahead of the horses) If you anywhere near the Athens area this should be
a lost of fun. Al Lieffring http://clubs.yahoo.com/clubs/alsunicyclingclub

Christmas Parades

Hey Al,

Sorry our club can’t be there…you know, the 14 hour drive thing sort of gets in the way. But we are riding in the Christmas Lights parade here in Rochelle, IL tomorrow night, Friday, Dec.7. Should be a great night weather-wise at about 45 degrees and the kids are really looking forward to it.

Here’s some input on what we’re doing:
We have a DC to AC power inverter for the van that we use to power a TV and VCR when we travel. We are going to use it to operate Christmas lights strung up on the pickup truck and a boom box blaring Christmas music on top of the cab. The clubbers who can’t ride well yet will sit in the back of the pickup and throw candy. Then, Wal-Mart sells a string set of 10 battery operated lights that we’ll use to light up the uni’s or maybe the rider. Some of the kids are also going to use glow sticks woven through the spokes. My boys found plastic Rudolph noses and antlers at a dollar store that light up and will wear them in the parade as well. We’ll do some maneuvers and generally have a great time. The parade terminates downtown for quite a few festivities so we’ll run around the downtown area a bit on the uni’s before we head for home. Small towns are nice for things like that.

Hope your’s is great as well.
Bruce

One more note: We laced the battery operated lights through our spokes
tonight, taped them in place, lit them up and tried them out. They are the
coolest thing to see while we’re riding in the dark! Can’t wait for the
parade tomorrow night!
