I don’t get it. Where do the toons come in?
That is a really cool looking UW. At first I thought such a big wheel would be too heavy, but then I read it’s made of aluminum. My 24" UW is made with 3/4" thick plywood. Of course it’s heavy! That’s how we built 'em back in the days.
Hmmm… It’s aluminum. Aluminum makes for a lighter wheel, but it’s not as durable as steel. The problem with aluminum is that it is easy to strip the aluminum pedal threads if a pedal gets loose. That’s a problem if the pedals aren’t tightened enough to begin with, but it’s also a major problem if someone rides the UW backwards (right pedal on left side, left pedal on right side). If you continue to ride with a pedal even just slightly loose you will strip the pedal threads in the UW very quickly.
For that reason, an aluminum UW is not a good choice for a club where lots of people will want to try the UW and few (if any) of those people will realize that they could ruin the UW by riding it flipped around. It’s very hard to tell the left side from the right side on an UW. A steel UW is a much much better choice for a club.
For personal use an aluminum UW is fine. You just have to be aware that a loose pedal will ruin the UW in very short order.
I’ve got a big “L” and “R” on my UW to make it bloody obvious which side is which.
Comes with “reinforced pedal bosses,” so your concern may about it being aluminum might not be a concern.
It will be interesting to see how that is accomplished. You can’t weld steel to aluminum so I don’t see an easy way to add a steel insert for the pedals. I’ll just have to wait and see what they mean exactly by “reinforced pedal bosses”.
doesnt that picture look like a cartoon to you?
SaskaTOON is usually known as Toon Town, so watch what you say there i was getting exited…
I think it would be something like Eldi Helicoils . They’re screwed into the crank then with some red locktight.
can i get it in pentagram?
that would be cool…after every UPD, I could sit in the middle of it and hex somthing.
It would suck to fall and get your foot caught in the middle.
would it be big enough to sit inside or would you have to resort to standing and chanting?
