uneven crank peddles. Is that normal?

Can anyone help?

I am new to unicycling and am making very slow progress. The crank
arms of my unicycle are not even or paralle (I hate spelling that
word). Is this common? It seems that I have a problem at a part of
the rotation in my peddling that makes it hard to go up and over with
my foot. This causes me to fall of the unicycle because of the force
I need to put on the peddle to rotate it. I think this is due to the
uneven crank arms. The unicycle is not damaged as far as I can see.

Any advice for a real newbie would be really appreciated.

uneven

sorry, i might be off, but one thing that might help with getting the top foot over the crest of the pedal-stroke would be to raise the seat(when the bottom pedal is all the way down, your knee should only be slightly bent–you can lower it again after you get better), and remember to have enuf forward momentum so the wheel rolls thru so it isnt straight up&down

when you say the cranks arnt equal, do you mean equal in length, or equal in angle from the axle?

Re: uneven crank peddles. Is that normal?

It is VERY common to hate spelling the word parallel.

As for your cranks, a photo of what you think the problem is may be very helpful. I agree with what RancidFlannel said, the correct seat height is important. I believe you indicated there was a crank problem, though.

If your unicycle has cottered cranks, the pins should go in from opposite
sides. In other words, the “head” end of the cotter pins shouldn’t face
upward at the same time. If they do, often taking one out and putting it in
the other way will straighten you out.

As someone else mentioned, making sure your seat is high enough will also
help. Read around on the Internet to find out how high.

Good luck,

r the crancks a matching pair?
insane question i know, but this is the uni u rescued out the trash if i recall
if u can afford it, why not just pop into a cycling shop and ask them to fit a new pair?
u may as well ask here for the best suggested length

keep practising and keep smiling

Thanks John that fixed it!
