Unabomber's manifesto

has anyone read hte unabomber’s manifesto? I just finished reading it in one sitting, and i’m pretty facinated. I found it quite interesting. you can read it here:

he had an IQ of 170 at age ten…pretty disturbing eh?

The fact that he had an IQ that high at age ten isn’t all that amazing by itself. Your IQ is determined by your intelligence in comparison to your age. so if someone has an IQ of 170 at age 10, they’ll have an IQ of 170 for their life.
Sorry, I’m just being annoying. : ) Cool article, though.

im just saying that the correlation between brilliance and madness is pretty freaky. a very fine line. the formerly world’s smartest person (in terms of highest iq) was convicted of 1st degree murder.

Was he mad? Or just have a perverse sense of right and wrong? In other words, was he insane or just a criminal? In either case, being smart doesn’t rule you out from either.

How come nobody mentioned Ted Kazinsky was a unicyclist? It was mentioned in the court transcript, which somebody once posted to the newsgroup.

I agree, it’s a mad mad mad mad world.

You know how people often speak of left handers as being smarter than the average person? Well, Jack the Ripper was left handed. O_O

i’m ambidextrous…does that make me extra smart or extra dum?

yeah i read the whole thing in one sitting once too. picked it up and couldn’t put it down… although i was reading it online. good stuff, i think in particular what he says about liberalism is pretty unparralelled. i think when people come to a logical conclusion about their world, they take action, whether that be with peace or violence… just because someone acts with violence though, doesn’t mean we can justify disregarding all of the understanding they generated before they took action.

Yes.
