The other day my DSL service went out for about 20 hours or so. After it came back up I was able to post to Unicyclist.com using a laptop running Windows 2000 connected to a router. However, my PC, also connected to the same router, which runs XP has been unable to post to Unicyclist.com. It just hangs.
Gilby suggested that it might be a cookie thing and I cleared my cookies. But the problem persists.
Cute and on the face of it logical, but the laptop is my work computer and in the evenings as I lounge about I do not use it, nor technically should I, but would still like to post.
Do I get to feed my cats and play with my daughter?
I mean after I hit “Submit reply” the cursor goes to the hourglass as if it’s going to do something but then nothing actually happens; it hangs; indefinitely; not even timing out or generating an error message.
have you run any spyware eliminating devices, or cleaned up your system via a disk defrag? That’s always a great first step when your system goes screwwy
ad aware and spybot are good easy to use spyware removal tools, type in those to download.com
It’s the router. I disconnected the router and plugged the PC back directly into the modem and it works. Hmmm, I’ll have to call tech support for the company that makes the router.
It is Bushes fault. I distinctly remember him cutting funding to router research that could have prevented this very thing from happening. I’ll do some google searches and see if can find the article. Hell who am I kidding, you don’t need any proof, it only reinforces what you already believe, so it must be true.
bugman, all joking aside, I’m glad that you’re glad for me.
However, I’m going to continue to request that for all your claims that you provide a minimum of evidence. Note John Child’s post regarding the cutting of veterans benefits. You can ridicule all you like, but in the end, if you don’t back up anything you say, you’re just a nutjob ranting away.
Try asking about your router problem in the forums at dslreports.com instead of calling tech support. You’ll probably get better help at dslreports than through tech support. Dslreports has forums for most of the common home routers (located under Equipment Support) and knowledgeable people who hang out there.
