Ultimate Wheel

All right. I am planning on building myself a ultimate wheel. Here are my basic plans:
1. Go to my local bikeshop and buy me a wheel
2. Pull spokes out of wheel
3. Get some plywood in a circle to fit in my wheel
4. Paint the wood
5. Put cool-looking plywood inside the wheel
6. Order pedals off of unicycle.com
7. Stick pedals on my wheel
8. learn to ride

Is this a good plan, or am I way off track?

Is there a better wheel size of a uw? (20, 24, 26)

Any help, hints, tips, comments are gladly accepted.

This is a spot where it is a GREAT idea to do a search of the archives. There is a lot of good info on ultimates in past posts. Just click on search and enter “ultimate wheel” without the quotes, then press go.

I think one of the best is http://www.unicyclist.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=15031&highlight=ultimate+wheel

Good riding!

P.S. I can’t ride an ultimate yet, but then again that thread isn’t by me!

Re: Ultimate Wheel

Step one should be buy a RIM, not a wheel so that step two can be eliminated. A rim will be cheaper, too.

for $25 bucks plus shipping you could be the first to build a ultimate wheel with a 26 inch Double Wide.

Aw Jag - I sang you a song… (dolorous lamentations)

Wide is fun in an ultimate wheel. Mine is built off of a Sun Phat Albert 26".

Wide probably is fun, but it is easier?
(I’m terribly lazy. Don’t really want to bother with difficult stuff.)

Gosh, I hope not. It’s taken me forever!
