We’ll be hosting the competition over the late May Bank Holiday weekend at Radical Bikes Trials & Jump Park in Essex. The weekend will include the main trials competition, but we’ll also be hosting lots of other*riding-based activities. There will be speed trials, high jump, long jump and a variety of silly riding based games.
We’re aiming to have a relaxed and inclusive event, much like a longer version of our monthly urban rides. The trials course will be open for riding over the whole weekend except during competition times. After the main competition for the UK title, you will be free to move and adapt the course as you like*(only the mobile parts. A lot of the course is heavy and permanent).
Camping for Friday, Saturday and Sunday night is included in the ticket price, as is use of the on site toilets and showers. We will provide a BBQ on the
Saturday evening which will also be included in the ticket price. We plan on having additional food & drink vans in attendance over the weekend too.
All through March we’re running a free ticket competition. Everyone who buys their ticket during March will be entered into a draw to receive a refund.
Get over to the STFU website now see see full details of the event and buy your tickets!
It’ll be a relaxed weekend of trials unicycling which will include a competition for the UK title. We’ll also be hosting a number of other trials related events just for fun, such as high jump, speed trials, eliminator challenge and the bad urban unicycle build.
Come along, meet new people, have fun riding the best trials course in the UK, learn new stunts and generally have a good time with a great bunch of people.
Check out the attached video for a look at the venue and a flavour of what the weekend will be like. https://vimeo.com/135056323
Thanks Guys. It’s been difficult to get people to sign up. Not sure why when we haven’t had a proper competition for five years. I thought people would jump at the chance.
People seem to be registering now, so hopefully we’ll have a good few competitors now
Usually I would shoot a video but I’ll probably be too busy organising.
The venue have said they have a resident video guy, but I’m not sure what he’s like if if he’ll be coming to the event.
I’m sure people will take photos and shoot some videos.
We did a site visit yesterday and the venue has said their video guy will be there. I’ve seen some of his work and it is good, so hopefully we’ll get a decent video out of it.
Here’s a few photos of the course to persuade anyone who’s thinking of coming. We’ll be adding all the beginner lines where that spine ramp is. We’ll also be using pallets to make some of the gaps and bigger hops a bit easier for beginners. We want this comp to be as accessible as possible
It was great to have such a good turnout, especially considering we haven’t had an event like this in the UK for 5 years. In fact, it just so happened that this event fell on the exact 5 year anniversary of the last trials comp we had in the UK.
Here are a few photos I managed to get.
Big thanks to Nat Snell who also took a load of photos which you can view on Flickr: https://flic.kr/s/aHskyVTYHp
