i think we should organise a unicycle meet in the south west (uk)namely in the devon area but how many people would be interested as there are no meets around here how many would come i do not know a good place a time or what to do i guess everthing i honestly do not know?
who would come?
BOB4 (Bristol’s Other Bristol) is on December the 6th, which would be an excellent starting point.
I also vaguely remember a post by Sarah Miller about a muni ride afterwards on the Timberland trail just south of Bristol, which would round it off nicely.

I’d just like to point out that BOB isn’t a great venue for unicycling.
It’s entirely indoors, on the first floor of the student union.
Although the hall is great for unicycling, once it’s full of 200 jugglers
there’s not much room to move!
We try to have a beginners and trick swap uni workshop (if anyone volunteers
to run one) but there’s not enough space for general riding.
We’d love to see you all though, and crash space is available if people
let us know first.
Sarah’s proposal of a Muni on the Sunday is a great idea. I probably won’t
be able to join you due to other commitments.

PS. If someone organises a uni meet in Devon I’d probably come along.
<wakes up, and hurls random objects back at phil>
BoB sounds like a good idea. Not much unicycling seemingly, but then I could be happy with brushing up my juggling, with some uni on the side. I’d likely be up for the planned muni on Sunday too, so that could make up for the lack on Saturday. I don’t have an ‘indoor’ uni, and I don’t know if they would have issues with big knobbly black tyres on their hall floor?
Hope to see many unicyclists there!

Hijacking this a little, while you south west people are there, is Bristol a good place to live if you like unicycling? Is there much good (off road) riding nearby, accessible by people who don’t have cars? Many riders living near there?
If any of you lot fancy running a weekend of muni somewhere near Bristol or Cardiff or that way I’d be up for coming down for a ride, there’s super fast trains to there. Go on, you know you want to. Muni meets are much more fun than uni-meets.

Re: uk south west unicycle meet
I would, in theory at least. I’ve been up to Kidderminster (from Bristol) a couple of times, and really enjoyed it, the problem is it’s so damn far that it ends up being far more expensive than I can really justify.
I guess it depensd exactly where it would be held, but I expect it would be a fair bit cheaper to go to Devon, in which case I’d be very interested.
I need quite a bit of notice though, as I have a lot of other comittments to juggle.

Bristol used to be very good for unicycling, in terms of unicyclists, but
that’s died down over the last few years. It was mainly after the Freaks
shop closed down, because that used to bring lots of new blood in the sport.
It’s still a great place to live, very relaxed, but still quite vibrant.
There’s a lot going on. And if you’re into circus skills, it’s possibly
the best city in the UK, 2 circus schools, 3 circus clubs, another circus
pratice venue, and loads of theatres that are keen to host the talent that
comes out of all this.
As for muni, Leigh Woods is just over the suspension bridge from the Clifton
area of Bristol, and is a lot of fun for muni, particularly when wet. It
might be a bit tame for you though!

I’ve got too much on right now to run one, but I’d come along if someone
else does.

Ah, another Bristol rider I don’t know about! I also don’t make many of
the Kidderminster meets because it’s too expensive with just me in the car.
We should talk!
Any other Bristol unicyclists out there who’d like to team up for lifts
to unicycling events?

Yowsers! I’m no juggler…
On the other hand, if it’s anything like the Durham convention (I haven’t much to compare it with) there’s always riding room outside and the show will be worth it, so it sounds funky.

exeter
i think exeter would be a cool place to do it mainly because it’s like half an hour away from me but also because there is a juggling club there and the use a school gym(freestyle, hockey)there is the town it’s self (trials, street) there is woodburry common like 10mins up the road(muni).
Re: exeter
Exeter sounds good… it has pretty good train access (for Devon ) and I know people who live there that I can visit, so it gets my vote.

Funny you should mention this as its an idea that been going through a few
people heads… Ali ( from Calstock) Rupert ( from Totnes) and I thought
it sounded like a good thing to do in the Exeter area in Feburary.I have
made a few tentative enquireis into halls… nothing fixed yet but I’ve
been looking.
We were thinking about Uni hockey, games, basketball, levels tests and
workshops. One of the halls I’m looking at is not too far from a skate
park…
Ben would you help run a trials workshop?
