hi, I was wondering if the gel saddle is comfier than the fusion. I was thinking that for my bar mitzvah I would upgrade my saddle setup 4 my trials, and ive heard that the gel saddles are much better for sif and distance. I also do Muni on my trials and I was wondering because it’s skinnier if it would reduce rashes. http://www.unicycle.com/Shopping/shopexd.asp?id=823

also I would put the fusion sadlle on my 24" schwinn or on my giraffe
I have them both, and I find that the UDC gel seems less comfortable when you first get on it, but it stays about the same while you ride it, whereas the KH tends to get sore after a while. UDC is thinner so easier to grip for sif, but the KH is fine too when you get used to it.
They’re both good seats though, and different people find different things comfy, if you can try a udc gel out sometime that would help you decide.
For freestyle stuff, get one of the slimmer velo/kh saddles. For trials, either kind is probably fine, unless you tend to do a lot of street freestyle. The gel or the ones that say freestyle in the name are good. I use the gel version, though I have no idea how different a non-gel one is as far as actual long term comfort goes. I took the gel one apart and was not impressed on how different it was… as it just has a section in the front that is a closed cell “gel” padding, but the rest is the same. In any case, the velo/kh saddles are the most comfortable for me. I used to have an “older” old style miyata (from the 80s and early 90s) that I used to ride and after switching completely to the velo/kh saddles, I haven’t had a saddle soreness problem in freestyle riding. I use the standard velo saddle for long distance and of course, just because of time in the saddle, there is some discomfort, but it’s much better than the miyata saddles were, which used to be the best. Now days I also use a chamois cream whenever I ride to help prevent soreness… it just helps everything slide into the right places for the best comfort. I use assOS right now, but I’ve used paceline’s butt’r before.
