Two Cokers Better Than One

Just bought myself another Coker for Christmas to add to my growing collection.
I want to put smaller cranks and a cycle computer on this one. Any suggestions
on what size the cranks should be? I want more speed, but also still want to
make it up hills. Thanks

I’d recommend going down to the next size of 125 mm cranks (1 inch shorter than
what comes on them). Get used to those first and see if you want to go down even
further. I have 125 mm cranks on my Coker and they are nice for going long
distances. For the type of riding I’ve been doing lately, cruising around
campus, I’m almost wishing I had the longer cranks on there, but I’ve gotten
better at maneuvering with the short ones (and haven’t ran over any students
yet) that I haven’t switched them yet. With the shorter cranks, I don’t even
attempt to idle, but instead just hop off my uni or hold onto a post when
waiting at a stoplight.

My average speed with the shorter cranks isn’t any greater than with the longer
ones, but with shorter cranks the speed is more constant.

You really should keep the longer ones on for speed and hills. I have one and it
does great where i live…The Rockies. Eddie Moffat <UNICYCLE-MAN@webtv.net>
