I bought a DVD in Europe, knowing that I’d only be able to watch it on my computer, but I want to do an experiment…I want to try to rip it on to the computer, then burn it on to a new DVD so it can be played in my Amerikan DVD player.
Is this even possible, and has anyone done it, and how would I go about doing it?
It’s not a matter of PAL and NTSC when it comes to DVDs it’s region encoding. The easiest thing to do is hack your DVD player to All Region. Videohelp.com lists hacks for a bunch of different models. There is also a file you can burn to CD-R that allows you to change the region of your DVD player to 0. i don’t know if the file is still easily downloadable though.
