watcha think of this setup? its time to upgrade my kh 20"…
nimbus II trials frame
green jim c pedals
05 kh hub and cranks
thompson elite seatpost
new fusion green seat
kh rail adaptor
luna tyre
kh free ride rim
14g spokes
any changes you think i should make? was considering a cf seatbase
Good except, lose the rail adaptor, you could make your own rail-less setup (gerbalfranklin) or buy a Scott wallis Cf base that goes directly to a Thompson with out any adaptors or even needing the guts of the post.
Sounds good but why would you go from a KH frame to a nimbus? The KH is wayyyy better even if you have an older one. Also alot of people (including me) don’t like rail adapters for trials but it may not bother you. CF seats are really nice, you might not need one now but once you start breaking KHs then it may be a good idea to get one. If you get a SWallis CF base then you don’t need the rail adapter.
isnt the nimbus lighter than the kh 04? well i havent broken any of them yet but i probably will. na the rail adapter is no problem, its worth it after breaking normal seatposts
I think it has a bad reputation for hitting people knees. I don’t think that there is something wrong with the nimbus but there isn’t anything wrong with the KH. I don’t know how they compare in weight so thats not something I am factoring in.
I’ve heard they are comparable to profiles. I don’t think there has been a side by side test to show which is stronger though. I think that the KHs are better than profiles but they don’t have the warrenty. Yeah Justin bent his KH cranks but he has snapped profiles too.
yea of course… u just have to send your broken cranks to profile… but if you dont think your gonna do huge stuff… stick with the kh probs you wont bend them
And I have the KH/Onza cranks and they are pretty good but mine are quite bent from a 10 stair and a couple of 5-6ft drops. It’d be awesome if KH could offer some sort of warranty for those of us who are liable to spend NZ$399 on a hub/crank set simply to have the disappointment of them bending or snapping within a month or 2 of moderate/extreme riding.
Even just a 6 month warranty would give buyers more confidence and more incentive to choose over profiles.
