Trials Cranks and rims and tries and crap

Hey there,
I was wondering what do all the trials unicyclers use who don’t use profile hubs and cranks, what do u guys use for cranks? i’ve bent my new steel norco cranks and i’m looking to buy some new ones that last a little longer (i’ve had mine for like 3 weeks and they’re grossly deformed) I think they were 127cm and the montys are 140, what length does Dan Heat use? I need them to take incredable abuse like 3-4 foot drops and 1-2 foot hops and 2-3 foot crank climbs every day for like 1 1/2 to 2 1/2 hours. anyway enough of my wining about cranks, (note i’m extremely bad at guessing height so these may be off quite a bit up and down)

Has anyone tries the wheel combo of AlexDX32 and a monty tire? I’ve worn down the one that comes with the norco trials one.

And anyone have any tips of uni spins?

anyway thnx

Aaron

Monty rim/tire, Profile hub.
Can’t beat it.

Monty Rim and Tyre, and I just have a hardened Susue hub and some shitty crank arms

i have a suzue hub and bicycle euro 125’s on my trials uni and ive done 5ft drops to flat and there still strait. you just need to perfect landing softly and absorbing the shock in your body and not putting all your weight on the cranks. try seat out in front for the big drops or finding a tranny to land on.

Hi,

The best cranks that I have used so far are the bicycle euro’s, 125mm. I haven’t bent a pair yet, though I have been pretty conservative while riding on them. I think these are relatively cheap too. The length is a little too short for trials though. For trials you want somewhere from 135mm to 145mm. They do however work great for a street/trials type of riding.

Bike euro cranks

I got a Suzue hub and deformed norco steel cranks,

But has anyone tried putting a Monty tire on a AlexDX32 trials rim?
and where do you get those bike euro crank?

And Uniracer when you say " land softly and absorbe the shock with your body) do you mean like using your a spring? and just compress when you land?

Has anyone ever seen a monty rim taco?

thnx
Aaron

Yes but make sure you buy a 19" Alex DX32. It won’t fit on the 20" rim. Most bike trials riders
I know, that use mod bikes, are using this setup instead of the Monty rim.

This is uncommon but they definately can go out of true- the Monty brand rims are less strong than
you’d think by looking at them. The main problem is that occasionally the spoke nipples rip out
of the rim. You can fix this problem (even after it’s happened) by putting small washers on the
nipples inside of the rim, to prevent them from pulling through.

The problem with the nipples pulling out from what I understand is when they
are built with 14 gauge spokes. These do fit but are slack. They should be
build with 13 gauge and 12 gauge nipples or 12 gauge spokes and nipples.
