trench coats

ok, yesterday I found a wicked poncho(mexican style) and a trencoat. my trenchcoat is awesome its waterproof heavy fabric, and its got slits that go right through the jacket before the pockets. the inside tag says it was an old cadets jacket…

I was wondering what the original purpose for those slits that come before the inside of the pocket. or other uses besides using it for stealing or quick-draw like in the beginning of the good the bad and the ugly.

Those slits were most likely intended to make it possible for you to reach into your pants pocket without having to unbutton the coat.

I have an Army Surplus (new, though) wool cape that has the same thing. It’s for reaching in your pants pockets from outside, or, I think, for holding the reins of a horse without having your hands exposed.

you’d get positive rep points from me if i could give 'em… great!

Not all over a perfectly good thread! :astonished:

i wanna trench coat

reading that made me laugh so hard lol, but it hurts to open my mouth anything more then like 1cm =(

yeah thanks. thats what i figured they where for although one could put them to better use than just being able to reach your pocket.
