treepotato's unicycle poem

by treepotato

No Brakes, No Limits
Or handlebars too
What could possibly be more fun to do?
Original, challenging plus keeps you fit
Pleasure to ride, though you wobble a bit
Practice makes perfect and perfect you’ll be
Thrilling, exciting, you’re flying, be free!
Better for the environment than travelling by cars
Bruises and bumps prove good battle scars.
People may look, people may stare,
Make quirky comments, but hey do we care?
Just remember this lesson, bikes are a con,
Why have two wheels when you can have one!

If I can beat the technicality-nerds on this one…

Yes, we all know some unicycles have brakes and handlebars. That’s not the point so don’t bother bringing it up!

Nice poem.

It should be possible to figure a better rhyme than con and one. What comes to my mind is fun and one…

Like the poem

Probably a geographic thing. In my neck o’ the woods “con” and “one”
rhyme while “fun” and “one” don’t.

Regards,
Mark.

Edit:

Bikes are larger, more dangerous and less fun!
Why have two wheels when you can simply have one?

Reminds me of a limerick I know. For years I couldn’t figure out how
anyone ever thought he could get away with trying to rhyme “tw*t” with
“Blott” and “yacht”. Then I read something about American pronunciation
(might even have been in this ng) and suddenly all became clear.

Say does anyone who went to Toque 2004 remember a phenominal poem written about my two soul mates?

Cause I wrote this epic poem to Ericka and Ryan, but i don’t remember it now… if either of you two have it, could you post it here for me?

P.S. I love you soul mates!

Good job Potato. --chirokid–

nice poem, very uni-que

Andrew

here is a uni haiku i just thought of

the hot blazing sun-
I hop the wheel on the rock,
Sweat runs down my neck

im no basho, but the basic elements are there (syllable count, seasonal word, combinaton of old and new, circular pattern, etc)

these unicycle poems are great!

We’re starting poetry in English now. I obviously have to do one on unicycling, so sometime soon I’ll post one here.

I wrote an excellent poem about my optical mouse. I won’t write much poetry. I will have to keep unicycles in mind next time i am enlightened.
