I’ve found this conversation pretty fascinating. I’ve never really given shaving much thought 'til now. That’s mainly due to my lack of facial hair (I could get away with not shaving for around a week, maybe two, and most people wouldn’t notice). But this discussion has definitely captured the side of me that loves everything old and classic. Find me anything that has a real leather case and something metal in it and I’m interested! I’m also a sucker for hand crafted and skilled items. I would class a saftey razor/single bladed razor to be of the crafted variety.
I don’t think I’ll be going out in a hurry to buy a razor, the fancy soap and a badger’s arse hair brush but it does put a nice though in my head. I’ll probably keep my eye out on eBay in case somebody is selling one, in which case I would happily convert. But until I start to grow real manly facial hair I think I’ll just stick to my Mac3.
Cheers for keeping me entertained for a good 2-3hours Chex
Does anyone still use the brush to smudge the foam on the face? Those looked fun.
oh they are fun. sometimes i get carried away and end up a big foamy blob.
You’re welcome. It’s kept me entertained for even longer, sadly. I’m the exact same way though. Something about the antiqueness of it intrigues me.
It is quite fun. I recommend the $5 brush and soap from Wal-mart to anyone who just wants to give it a try…or just wants to whip up some lather for a good ole time.
