track and field

That is truly impressive. I was able to highjump my own height doing the western roll on only one occasion. Did you flop that?

i am in middle school track and field i do 4 by 400 relay my best time is 1:00minute flat. I also do long jump i did 12feet 9 inches i stink at long jump:p

Yep! Belly flop and nose bleed city!

Yea nice job! How tall are you and what age did you do that?

I just ran a 57 second 400m today.

Why thank you sir, it was college, I went only 1.98 m (6’6") in high school. I developed a chronic injury my sophmore year in college and basically had to give up jumping after that.

Thank you Mr. Harper. Yes, flop, from the right side. Were you a bend-leg roller ala Valery Brummel and Pat Matsdorf? Interesting bit of trivia; although Dick Fosbury invented a new style, he never held the World’s Record.

Thanks, I’m 1.93m (6’4"), and I was 19 when I did that jump. The previous season, I missed at that height in the NCAA Div II National Meet. I didn’t know it a the time, but if I had made it, we would have won the championship.

I did a swinging straight leg roll from the left side. My height came from spring more than style. I was a very inefficient high jumper but a fantastic rebounder. I had about a 30" vertical in HS.

Hey, that matches my horizontal!

I was trying to beat your circumferential.

Could you dunk?

I could two-handed, backwards dunk until I was about 25. I could still dunk when I was 37. Now, those days are mere memories.

But, good memories!
I was on the wrestling team in HS and I dunked in a inter-squad game - good times. I could still dunk a volleyball last time I tried (about 3 years ago).

Last thing I dunked was my wallet a couple of years ago. I could just get it over the rim. I’m still hurting from the event. Oh, that may just be from getting up this morning.

Good memories, indeed.

Sorry, too many pi’s.

Just returned from the end-o-season awards banquet (even though Sectionals will run this weekend). Brad earned a Varsity letter as a freshman.

Way to go, Braditude!
.

well i did get second!

and my 4x400 team, my 100, and 200 are going to regionals!

Chase

That’s all good stuff, Chase. Congrats!

My daughter’s (Andrea’s) team is going to state in the 4x400, she runs the first leg. For the rest of the team: One boy is going in the 1600 (haven’t heard his 3200 result yet) and one of the girls is going in long jump, 100 intermediate hurdles, and 400.

The “top 16” go to state. Even though Andrea’s time in the 300 hurdles is in the “top 16” for all times posted in the state for the regular season, she was fourth in yesterday’s tri-district meet; only the top three go on to state. Last year the top four went. Unfortunately, them’s the breaks. On the plus side, two of the girls that beat her are seniors, so next year could be the year to make it to state in her individual events.

Wow, Steve, Andrea’s growing up. We haven’t seen her in five years. Congrats on her accomplishments. State is the BigTime!
