we know this going to be a big one
might as well start chatting about it now
and i wanted to ask if anyone knows where i can find a live, online update-site on the Tour?
i remember i used one last year where they actually had graphics showing the leaders and the splits and the gaps and it was a wonderfull way to keep up with the tour despite not having access to a TV
i can’t find it again
any ideas?
With a little bit of luck, yes.
There is so much that can go wrong during the 3 weeks of the tour. Big unpredictable problems like crashes or getting sick. If Lance can stay healthy and stay out of trouble from crashes then it looks very good for #7. We’ll have to see if he still has it for the mountain stages. From the looks of how well he rode in the time trial it looks like he is right on form. Expect big things.
lance is kicking butt thus far. he’s ahead of his main competition and poised to destroy everyone in the mountains. provided nothing goes wrong, ie, crash, or crash related injuries or anything like that, he should win #7.
I think it’s remarkable that Rudy Pevenage & Olaf Ludwig (?x green) left Erik Zabel (6x green!) at home, another indication T-mobile is fully focussing on yellow this time.
thanx again
i may have come up with a rather interesting solution to my coverage problem
there is a TV in the on air studio for us to follow sporting events and do updates (this makes the sports-fan feel at home in the store knowing that even if they have to pop away from their TV’s/radios, they’ll still be kept updated of the development of the game/race they were watching
the afternoon presenter, bless her cotton socks, is quite a soap opera fan
(recently, she had to do two hours of my show as i needed to record some stuff with people who would only be available at that time. i was, obviously, going to do two hours of her show. but only ended up doing one cause she didn’t want to miss her soapies and would rather be in studio to watch them - but that’s jsut backround)
this afternoon she phoned to ask me something and since i can see the studio and the tv thru the dividing glass wall, i asked in a surprised tone of voice why she isn’t watching the Tour so she can give updates
she said something and i saw her switch over a bit later
we had a bit of a chat about the pretty scenery and some of the picturesque villages they drive thru and how i love the fact that they take time out of the coverage to show u these villages as they pass
from some of her comments, i got the idea that she really doesn’t have much of an idea of what’s going on in the sport and that terms like ‘peloton’, ‘king of the mountains’ and ‘green jersey’ didn’t mean much to her
so i spent the last 12km’s in the studio with her, and we managed to cover most of the basics
she never realised it was so much fun
she’s always heard about lance armstrong this and lance armstrong that
she likes the intensity of it
yeah, it’s like a soap opera with gears
i think i’ve made a fan
and an opportunity to see more of the race than i expected
this is good news
