Toronto city ride

What unicycle are you going to ride for the down-town Toronto ride on
Wednesday?

Just wondering if I should bring my Coker.

Hi. Joe and I are going to be leading the workshop which precedes the
downtown ride. We have debated whether to bring our 24"s or our Cokers for
the ride, but I think we agreed that the 24s make the most sense since we
are not necessarily going for speed. In my case (unless I’m prohibited
from doing this) at least some of the riding (probably most) will be on
sidewalks, where Cokers lack the maneuverability for many people. In
addition, since a lot of folx won’t be on Cokers, riding one would be
boring since you’d have to go slower than the big wheel likes to go.

So I’d opt for a 24-28" uni. I am leaving my 26" at home, so I’ll take my
24" (after I repair that innertube!)

My thought was to bring a Coker so I don’t have to take the bus or drive a
car to get to downtown…plus I’m never bored riding my Coker, even
slowly. There is also the 5K race in the over 30" wheel category to
consider. -Mark

I am not sure you have the room for it, but of course one option for some
people is to bring both (and then some). I’ll have my Coker, Giraffe, 20"
Torker, 24" Schwinn, the Spin Cycle, and Fluffy the trials uni. I may also
bring my daughter’s little 16". But for the city ride I’d rather have sth
smaller than a Coker.

For the Wednesday ride most of the Toronto Unicyclists will be riding
with 24" unis. The rides will be mostly on sidewalks or other narrowish
cement surfaces with lots of people, tourists and locals alike, using the
same path.

The ride (you may have a couple of options) will probably include ledges,
obstacles, the possibility of a fall into water, water fountains, gapping
stuff and other trials stuff, if you are so inclined. A monty trials setup
would also be ok.

Speed and distance will not be major factors on the city ride, so your
Coker may feel a little out of place.

I rode with Mark Stephens last weekend and he was planning to take his
Coker for that city ride. I think he’ll be disappointed if nobody else
Cokers with him.

Greg

Well, duh. Guess he posted before I did and my news server was behind…
Sorry about the redundant post (and the apology post, and …um… I
should shut up now…)
