Torker LX 26" for 2 miles commute

I got my nimbus but I have a small problem -

the double bolt clamp is already attached to the frame but the seat post doesn’t slide into the frame. I am afraid to ruin the seat post by using too much force.

any tips?

The tip to untighten the two bolts is probably too obvious, I hope. Can you remove the clamp altogether? You should be, as the clamp should not be “attached” to the frame, just clamped. Then you can maybe better see what the problem is.

works.
I used a hammer to remove the double bolt clam and managed to insert the seat post. thanks.

How’s the progress?

bus racks

I live in Tacoma WA and commute to the bus stop 4 times a week. The local transit busses will allow bicycles (unicycles) onboard. The regional express busses will not allow bicycles onboard. 29er’s and smaller will fit into the front wheel position of the rack and can be secured using the front wheel hook on the rack. Sometimes the 29er’s can spring the hook. The 36er is placed in the back wheel position of the rack and secured with bungee around the seat post. The largest tire that will fit the channel is 2.5". The 2.5 is a very tight fit.
I will try and take some pics this week.
Congratulations on you’re new adventure into unicycling.

I have about 2 hours of training.
first 10 minutes I was trying to free mount. what a mistake it was.
I guess it’s impossible to do it before learning to ride…
In addition I shorten 3 inches from the seat post with a saw so I think It will be easy for me from now on.

the rest of the time I spent on trying to ride it using a fence or a wall to hold on to. I can ride for 3 feet until I fall. my body hurts from falling and from the effort. I feel my abs as well, so I assume I use this muscle to stabilize on the uni.

I only have about 2 hours on the weekends for training so I can’t wait for the next weekend to continue this adventure.

Thank you for caring! you guys are part of an amazing community.
I’ll post a short video soon.

Keep it up. 15 minutes a day will get you there a lot faster than 2 hours every Saturday.

I got my first unicycle for christmas, (so 5 months ago) and it’s a Torker LX 26". I’ve ridden it to school 3 or 4 times and it’s about that distance, but mostly uphill. Downhill should be a piece of cake, you’ll be fine. Good luck!

video - my first 5 hours on the nimbus

here is my first video!
let me know what you think

I only read page 1, but as far as taking it on the bus I think as long as you can sit it in your lap, and convience the driver “oil or grease” won’t drip onto the floors, then you should be golden. I’ve taken my 29er with me on grocery runs inside the store. Not brave enough to ride it through, but walk with it and have no issues with anyone saying anything to me. Of course, when I do these things, I act like I’ve done it before. That may be the ticket to getting a 26/29er on the bus.

Hey Dan,

Great Progress!! Thanks for posting the video. It brings back memories of when I learned to ride clinging to a tennis court fence almost exactly one year ago. Keep up the practice and feel free to share you progress with the forum.

large uicycles on bus bike racks

Dan,

How is the unicycling going? I am finally getting a chance to upload my unicycles on the bus rack pictures. I rarely us a computer. Most of the time I use an iPhone for the internet. It is easier for me.
The first pic is my 29er. I have since sold the 29er. I use the 36er most of the time. I have a Nimbus 26" muni. I have put the 3.0 Duro tire back on for the winter. We got snow last week so I took the muni to work. I have to take the muni on the bus since the tire is too big for the rack. Since Aug the regional express buses will allow unicycles on board. Bicycles still are not allowed.

I have a lx 26 inch, and I ride it everywhere. I’ve taken it on the bus and train many times, and have never had a problem. No one has ever questioned whether I could bring it on, it’s almost like they have too much respect for us unicyclers to say no (hehe). I’m sure they also be fine with a 29er, but I’ve found a 36 is not really needed unless you are doing extremely long rides, and a 26 is a much more usable and transportable size.

Yes- my main ride for the past year has been my quax26. I’ve got a 29-er which is currently in bits in a cupboard, and, just last week got my first 36er, which I’m learning to ride, but doubt it’ll become a mainstay like the 26er has.

I live in a very hilly area, which is partly why I ride the 26, as bigger wheels wouldn’t work well on the steep hills.

As well as being compact and easy to store/transport, i like the convenience of being able to take it into shops, whereas, when I get out and about on the 36-er, I’ll need to take a bike lock.
