Too busy?

Wow, less than a dozen posts so far this month… and July is almost over.
I guess we’re all too busy these days…

Sincerely,

Jay Tierney

Re: Too busy?

July is our busiest month at work (hospital in a tourist town). Combine
one vacation and two family reunions and, yep, it’s busy. August brings
a week of training out of town, then I start school. I am going back
for my master’s degree and classes start Aug. 8th. Meanwhile, the
classes I teach start at the end of August.

What is everyone else up to this summer?

busy dealing with my dad’s estate. Been back and forth between South
Bend, IN and Dallas TX 4 times now. We have a buyer for the house now,
still working on the price.

Once the house is sold, I’m planning to buy a house in a housing co-op (
a co-op works sorta like a condo, but you don’t actually “buy” the house
you buy a share of the co-op that gives you the right to live in the house)

Starting next year I’m planning to go to school… I’m not 100% sure what
for yet. The leading option right now is to get a Associate of Science
degree in Electronics, get a job then do the night school thing to get a
BS in electrical engineering.

Option number 2 is a BA in philosophy… but the job outlook for
philosophers is not that hot right now

Re: Too busy?

Well… I resigned from Fastclick last week and I’m in the process of
starting my own business, which has been time consuming to say the least.
Oh yeah, and I’m getting married on August 6th. That’s my excuse.

I’m following an almost identical path. I resigned from my job about a
month ago. It had gotten to the point where I was the only employee, and
I was running the business out of my living room by myself.

A friend and I have been planning to start our own business for the past
few months. We’ve been meeting weekly to talk about exactly how we’re
going to do it and what we’re going to do. We decided that we don’t have
the luxury of fully quitting our day jobs yet (although I did), and that
it will probably be a year before we can get the company registered and
do it full time.

In the meantime, I’ve taken a job with another startup. We’ll, it’s not
really a startup. There’s a local ISP that has a specific
offering/service. This service has customers and is making money, but
the ISP overall is struggling. So they’re spinning off this one service
into a new company. Right now I’m working on getting the new company
ready to be up and running to take orders in September. I’ll tell you
more about it when we actually open for business.

Also, I’m getting married on October 29th.

Been very busy with back to back unicycling events… Went to Denmark a
month ago and rode 600 km on a unicycle with 11 others from Copenhagen
to Skagen <http://unitur.dk>. I then attended the European MUni Trials
Convention 2005 <http://fluck.dk/MuniTrials2005.htm>, also in Denmark.
Then I flew directly to Ohio for the 2005 North American Unicycling
Championships and Convention <http://unicycling.org/usa/naucc/2005/>.

Now it’s time to catch up on everything and get to work on the numerous
projects I’ve been working on.
