Tightening spokes?

Hi all,
I have recently noticed my spokes are creaking when I hop up and down things. So how do I tighten my spokes?

Thanks,
Jay

And I did use the search.:stuck_out_tongue:

Yah.
It could be a broken or bent spoke though as well.

If you don’t have a tool here is a nice portable one that I use.
Three spoke sizes in one BTW.

i bought a spoke tightener for 5 dollars at my lbs now my unicycle is creak and squeak free yayyyy!!!

All you need is a spoke wrench. You might as well true your wheel while you are bringing up the tension again. This can be a bit tricky but if you follow the instructions in Sheldon Brown’s wheel building tutorial you should be fine.

Skip down to the tensioning and truing section, about 2/3rds of the way through the article.

Once you master wheel maintenance you will never need to pay a LBS for labor again.

Hi all,
Thanks for all of the replies and tips guys, I really appriciate it! Hahaha so I got a funny story. So I get my unicycle all ready to tighten the spokes, so I tighten them a little and I realize that the unicycle shouldnt be creaking with the spokes only a little bit loose, so I get everything back on it and ride it around. It still creaks, and I realize that it was my seat that was creaking because the handle was loose! Silly me! well now I got this thread for future reference :D. thanks guys!

Jay
