Re: ticked off
So, did anyone else see Philippe Petit on Letterman the other day?

Re: ticked off
Pretty much a fact of newsgroup / forum life, really. Threads generally stay on-topic enough to answer the question and slowly slip off-topic with regular readers’ banter. Sometimes the other topic is still in the same field, other times it’s miles away.
I find here is better than most places; for me I don’t post much OT stuff because I feel somewhat guilty towards the people who get it by email, for sending them stuff which is of absolutely no interest to them.
Once it stops being what you’re interested in, stop reading; that’s as much help as anyone can give, really.
There’s always the “Trash Thread!” button. I dunno what that does, I’m always scared of what will happen if I click it. Does it just hide the thread from me, or will it bring on a voice of fire shouting that I’m not an administrator, and should be banished to the fires of hell? Scary stuff.
Phil, just me
Maybe this is one for Yoopers to tackle…
But, If I had been banned from a forum for offensive posting and somehow miraculously un-banned at a later date, I would be pretty hesitant about commenting on the behavior of other users. Other users who, by the way, vastly out-number you and seem to like the forums just fine.

You just have to relax - it all works out in the end.
I always find that questions are answered eventually and, well, I think it’d just be dull if everyone stuck to the topic all the time.
Re: ticked off
Judo practice rocked last night.
hehe
Are you watching the Angels game? 6-0, wow. I want the Angels to win
Wouldnt it be boring if everyone just answered the posts, yes or no?
This is unicycling, there has to be some humor involved
it’s hard not to. Any small change in topic can mess it up. For example, someone was asking about routes and time to get from california to B.C., and. When i was giving him a route and how long it’d take, i mentioned a pizza place in Salem that you chould try to stop at. Right there, someone could’ve said “Mmmmm pizza”, or “I hate pizza” Topic changed. You can’t help it.
Kozy,
Some observations: your last 2 thread titles were… well, uneffective. One was called ‘Questions’ and the other ‘I need help’. If you title the thread about what you’re interested in learning or shairing, you will be inclind to draw more people in. Maybe the Crank Stall Master had 20 minutes one day this week to borrow internet access, and passed over i need help because it was meeningless to her? Worse yet, if people take the time to find out what the post was about, and give their time, the information isn’t as easly accessed by other folks who wana know the same thing. If I do a search for the words ‘crank stall’, and come back with 43 posts, one title ‘need help’ doesn’t reach out and say read me.
Also, while it isn’t stricktley neccessary, I think you should take the time to include some of your own observations or thoughts WITH your question. It says to your fellow forum followers ‘Hey, I care about this subject, and wish to give to it, too’. If you can generate enthusiasm in others, the ball will start rolling…
I know how you feel though; this happens to me often. What to do? Some times I try to address the issue in a new way and repost. Sometimes, I’ll just write about my experience- this is often enough to get other people juiced up and responding. If nothing seems to work, I’ll wait for an opertunity. The better you craft your posts, the better they will work for you.
Keep posting, and keep your spirit up. And ride as often as you can.

Justin,
Firstly, welcome back! It’s always tough to take a hit on the chin and keep your head up. I actually think congrats are in order for the content of your recent posts. I appreciate your recent quality talk. I also think it’s great to have opinions thrown out on the table, talk about different…opinions are about as different as they come.
You get ticked off when the stuff in the thread goes astray? I get frustrated too when I ask a question and get no help but instead just get the humorous banter that is characteristic of this bunch. But the frustration doesn’t last for long because, inevitably, someone cracks open with something that makes me laugh. I have to agree with Phil, pretty much just a fact of newsgroup life.
Have at it with your questions AND opinions. We’ll try to respond as best we can but don’t expect too much from us simple human folk.
Make it a great day!
