My son’s whole school district is closed tomorrow due to threats of violence.
Is this happening anywhere else on Colombine’s anniversary?
Yes. My school isn’t closed tomorrow, but they made an announcement at the end of school yesterday saying they found some rumors on myspace, and that you had to be in your testing room with the door locked (we’re doing our yearly standardized testing) before 7:30. And if you’re late, you have to be escorted by a principal to your testing room. After school, while waiting for my ride to do something, I talked to one of my teachers, who said that some students had gone to the office reporting someone talking about/threatening guns at the school today.
Scary stuff…

I really hope my school sticks to its majority steriotype of celebrating 420 and mostly talking about 420, because after the V. Tech thing, I realized that columbine was at a high school, and truthfully, I’m pretty scared, it will probably go away. But it is realy scary to me.
Although, I was reading through some wikipedia articles about the columbine kids earlier, after following a link from the V. Tech wiki article, and it was interesting to find out, that one of the kids birthdays was on 9/11. Of course he killed himself two years earlier, but it is an interesting coincidence that it is on that date.
Since you originally wrote a tiny bit about columbine, I must ask, do you think it was originally planned for that day because of the drug reference?

I just don’t know about that. I think if there is an intentional reference, it’s not a particularly meaningful one.
Others likely have different and more well founded ideas on the matter than I do.
I hadn’t heard anything about that…Moscow is a rather small and friendly town though so that’s probably why. I guess I’m kinda lucky to live in a place like this…

I haven’t heard anything about schools being closed, but I did see an article about a girl who was at both Columbine and Virginia Tech during shootings.
I think the Columbine guys decided on the date because it was Hitler’s birthday not because of the idiotic self drug reference.

My testing room was room 420. Ironically, no cops came to check out our room like they did with some others.

Tell that to the people at Columbine. I’m not willing to take the risk of it being an actual threat.
So apparently my school was paranoid after all, there were staff members allllllll over the place in the halls the entire day, and we weren’t really allowed to be in the halls.
On average 118 people die a day on America’s roads. At columbine i believe 15 people were killed (including the two perpertrators). To picture this, imagine an event like columbine happening every 3 hours, continuously, day and night, all year round, year after year. Of course columbine was a tragedy, but I know what I’d be more worried about.

I haven’t seen many here, but if there were…I bet they would be REALLY dangerous.
