Are you a thread jacker if you merely respond to a post that is a thread jacking but do not initiate the jacking of the thread?
Thanks,

PS I know, I asked for it.

Today was not a good day because I didn’t have time to ride my unicycle.

is there anyone in the chat room right now?
I can’t get the fool thing to work. It just opens up this funky small grey dialog box, but nothing but grey matter ever appears.
Man it was hot today… How was it where you are?
Re: Thread jacker - Definition?
and, verily, u got it
this kind of thread reminds me why i enjoy this forum so much
for my efforts of yanking this thread back to it’s original topic, flying in the face of the fine efforts of all who posted before me, what do i get called?
a thread re-jacker?
in answer to raphael’s original question
yes
‘die deler is so skuldig soos die steler’
(n afrikaans expressions loosely translated to ‘the sharer is as guilty as the stealer’)
thread jacking on this forum is an interesting issue as i find most of my entertainment from seeing how long a thread stays ‘serious’
and, for the most part, i think we’ve got it pretty right
when someone asks a question or raises a serious issue, we seem to give it the space to be discussed before the (inevitable) outbreak of zanyness
should someone, however, jack a thread with the first reply, a responsibility exists to drag it back to the original topic
this, i feel, is especially true when a new person posts on the forum
sure, don’t lull them into a false sense of security, but do respect the original topic for long enough so people get the impression that the can actually gain knowledge, advice and whatever insight is available from these forums
after that, fish.
daino’s effort onthis thread was inexcusable tho and could probably stand as a definition of a ‘thread jacker’
if u want to discuss movies, start a thread!
Good call GILD! I think if your thread was to be hijacked, it should have been about anything but another damn movie thread. Diano was not the only guilty party though, I was an accomplice along with quite a few others including the anonymous Monkey Wrench. Maybe you should get back in there and regain control, restore your thread to it’s original unanswerable self, and vanquish the evil threadjackers.
oooh, i think with 38000-odd views i’ve accomplished that.
in my own peace-nik kinda way
Here it was damn cold! I had to scrape ice off my car for the first time since BMW.
I’m off to have a big bacon and cheese sandwich to warm up. Mmmm…
Phil
Not here! Temps currently the mid 80s F, believe that’s the upper 20s C. Lows are in the mid 50s F (approx 10 C).
.duaner.
Don’t you guys have two kinds of bacon?
Dave Lowell (uni57)
P.S. - I was only kidding in the other thread (I’ll just post about here in this thread) when I said you were no Mikefule. I hope you are not mad at me. Your unicycling tale was interesting and well written. I only replied to it because nobody else had – and I felt bad for you.
Do we? Hmm. Well… I suppose there is smoked and unsmoked, but surely you have both too? Your society isn’t that backwards, is it? Smoked is better… it smells nicer, so makes other people jealous more effectively, and that’s what’s important. My brother and I cooked bacon on the sunday morning of BMW, and several people mentioned how good it smelled…
Fear ye not… I’m an engineer, not a writer! I just post stuff to make the place look busy…

Does anyone know why Jagur changed his posting name? Let’s discuss theories…
i didnt change it,im just using 2 now.
I hate looking things up when I can just ask somebody here, but I found it…
What you call bacon, we call Canadian bacon. And what you call streaky bacon (at least according to that web page), we call bacon.
So, what kind of bacon was it? Bacon bacon, or the other kind?
Dave Lowell (uni57)
Not to change the subject, but…
Does anyone know why Jagur is now using two posting names? Let’s discuss theories…
Wow! The one-stop bacon reference of the Web!
Umm…
Personally I think streaky bacon is horrid, but it’s not that common over here; it seems to be the most popular sort on the continent though, but we already know they’re a strange sort over there.
Your Canadian bacon almost looks like gammon… simply because our “normal” bacon is back bacon (or “irish bacon” as that page says), and gammon doesn’t appear to be anywhere else on the list. Maybe. Erm. Our rashers are that shape, anyway; one big meaty bit with a slightly fattier bit at one end.
But yes, back bacon is Where It’s At. Smells gorgeous, tastes gorgeous and is generally all round most excellent when sizzling nicely in a frying pan.
Next time I have a bacon sandwich I must try to remember to document the occasion with photos…

Re: Thread jacker - Definition?
This had something to do with my name slinging in some recent thread, didn’t it. Thread Jacking can also be called “Happy hooking”, which is a better name, although less funny. I hope my comments weren’t taken as ofensive, as I just thought it was funny that the thread had completely changed subject.
Gerbs: how well do you like that Onza now that you’ve had some time to torture test it? What’s it’s grade?
Photos…
Yes, I love photography. And some day I’ll even be good at it.
