Like I mean by typing. Cause I was just thinking how I do ^^ alot I dunno why I think because it’s easier than pressing quote. But is there stuff you do like that?
I do smileys a lot (:
Backwards smileys (:
Oh, and I just realized that my smileys can double as punctuation marks, because I didn’t use a period on either of those two sentences.
I use =p a lot.
I some times use it as a punctuation too =p
… is useful when you get sick of using commas…and it gives you a button to push when you are thinking about what to say:)
lol i use : P alot… and 3 dots… cause like spencer it gives me time to think.
I also use enter when i dont know wot to write…
Nah actually i use the exclamation mark quite abit too!
I spell “alot” “a lot” a lot.
It’s called an ellipsis.
I never used ellipses until this year… now I use them waaaaay too much.
pwned!!
I guess pwned is something I do a lot too…but not as much as some. And the ellipses…they’re handy dandy…
I use ellipsis a lot…
i hardly ever use commas…
Chase
Post.
whats an ellipse…?
Are you joking?
Just not sure, you know…anyway, an ellipse is three dots in a row…like these…and, to be anal about it, at the end of a sentence it has to have four dots…in the middle of a sentence it has three…because at the end it’s the ellipse plus a period at the end of the sentence…
are ellipsis’ not used soley for quoting?
i was lead to believe that they are used when one quotes material from another source yet does not want to add the whole thing, therefor an elipsis is inserted to represent the un-qouted text (omision).
Example:
i use incorrect grammer much heaps, you think?
Bruce dear, “alot” isn’t really a word, although I can imagine a number of reasons you might think it is.
According to Wiktionary, “alot” is “a common misspelling of a lot.” The entry goes on to say that “when it appears intentionally in print, it is generally either representing the original spelling in a work quoted, or is an attempt by the author to convey poor education in the character using it.”
According to your statement, you are spelling it correctly “a lot”, even though you appear to be thinking that “alot” is the true spelling, therefore, in your mind, you are actually misspelling. I can only conclude you are either messing with this thread, or trying to mess with me since you know I’m back from my travels.
Do you still keep a little bottle of bourbon in your desk drawer at work?
MA
Missaye,
You are smart beyond your years. Yes, I am messing with this thread; a pure tongue-in-cheek statement as one would say. I’m also quite dissapointed in you. We’ve known each other since my eigth grade year, which was many moons ago. I expected that you would know me much better than your suppositions on page 15 would state. Even though I was frequently the boy behind the mischief in class, you always gave me the best grades in English. So I would like to thank you publically for my ability to not say, spell, or even think the spelling “alot”.
As for the bourbon, no dice m’am. I’m purely ethanol-minded these days.
Missaye, please watch the ice this winter. I would hate to see your walker slip out from under your grasp and you take a tumble.
Your ever-loving and faithful student,
Brucie
Edit: Wecome back!
I think i tend to use ‘Wow!’ alot, tis a useful happyimpressed expression and there’s lots of things to e happy and impressed at on the forums
