Exactly. Like “I learned to play ___ on a guitar” or “I learned how to ride a unicycle”
I don’t enjoy when people leave it incredibly vague so as to try to brag.

well, this summer, I will learn to idle on a unicycle, and I will destroy my body trying to land this trick. for the sake of clarity, a self depreciating lad like myself is never one to brag
Using things only for what they have been designed for did not get us where we are in unicycling. Why is this thread so negative? Go for it man!
I went back and read all the posts again. Did I miss something? Where’s the “so negative”?
thought of a less destructive grind. the positioning would be tougher, but with the uni completely upside down, grind the rail with the crown, foot planted on seat, holding the wheel with your hand. been done before?
Well now you’re gonna need a high rail with no posts in between, which usualy means it is also a short rail, but this sounds even more difficult to me. I’d stick with your original, and think about modifications to your uni, like a grind plate, reinforcements, possibly something like a foot plate underneath the seat, things like this.
People have only ever grinded on the pedal, crank, and occasionally bearing holder before. Keep in mind that whatever part of your unicycle that you’re grinding on will eventually be destroyed unless you heavily protect it.
A realistic trick that would be totally awesome would be a maxwhip down a stair set
this is some funny shizz in here!
haha especially seatpost grinds!!! Seatpost breaking 101 right there…
we’ll see in the mean time, I’m riding this sucker with no seat/post (which is harder than I thought! you ultimate wheel riders must have ankles of steel!). if the post is built anywhere close to the strength of the frame, I honestly don’t see it being a problem for a dude of my weight
what do you mean ur riding ur uni without a seat and seatpost? But if you think you can do it, then go ahead and try!!!
You’re not thinking about the whole thing though, the spot you want to grind on is a weld point, a weld point that is designed for vertical impact, not horizontal. Weight is not really the concern, unless you weigh like 30 pounds, it will still be a problem.
If you’ve got money to waste and some free time coming up for injury recovery, I say go for it.
I can wallflip very easily… I’ve been considering holding the unicycle in one hand, doing a wallflip, and landing on the uni. I just need to figure out how to hold it so it stays on the ground/doesn’t twist my arm all up
Edit: Maybe holding by the back bumper and letting go right as I start to flip…
That would be sick! Have a friend hold your uni while you flip?
Or give it it’s own flipping momentum so that it follows you through your quick flip, but I think if you do your flip just a bit sideways, you could hold the front bumper and have it hardly move at all really.
Oh wait, sorry, I was thinking for a flip 180
what I am doing on it is closer to pogo sticking than unicycling >_< I’m seatpostless till wednesday, but she is too pretty not to play with
“If you’ve got money to waste and some free time coming up for injury recovery, I say go for it”
no money to waste, but I work a really relaxed 9/5 during the summer, so I have plenty of free time, and a mountain of scrap metal and wood to play with. I’m sure that I come across as an idiot with all these silly ideas, but I’m sure you will warm up to me in the months to come

out of curiosity, how painful was the learning process??
No no I’m not trying to insult you at all, by all means do whatever you like, there is always room for new tricks. I’m just saying that if it is really something you want to achieve in a few years, then you need to think about ways to make it happen, because I don’t think it will happen with the current uni design.
Doing wallflips can actually be very safe, I used to do them all the time, and I taught myself, before the youtube revolution there were no tutorials!
“fido” alias Cedric does this!
he does a lot of new things while riding 26" streetstyle.
26" street riding is really innovativ!
