They said there'd be snow at christmas

“They said there’d be snow at christmas
They said there’d be peace on earth,
But instead it just kept on raining,
A veil of tears for the virgin birth”

In Prestatyn at the moment it’s damp and foggy. Which kind of fits the way I feel. I have a nasty bug (maybe even the flu). I’ve lost my voice, I’m all bunged up and I wont tell you about my cough cos it’s too disgusting.

Anyway, cheer me up, tell me if it’s snowing for christmas where you live.

Cathy

I thought it was damp and foggy all the time in th UK

But it was supposed to snow here on the -1 day of Kwanzaa, but they changed the forecast to rain :frowning:

As soon as it gets below 28 degrees F, I’ll be making snow.

I don’t think that’s going to happen until monday though.

We had over a foot, and two weeks ago it was -30 F, then a couple days ago, BOOM, it’s in the upper 30’s and snow melted, and turned slushy… then last night we got another couple inches, so now we still have a bout a foot… :stuck_out_tongue:

Hope you feel better before tomorrow!

don’t feel too bad. I doubt we’ll get snow here tonite. We’ll be lucky to get down into the low 30’s. Tomorow it’s supposed to be 70 degrees out.

yup, no snow over here. Come to think of it, I don’t remember the last time it snowed, either…

Ill never see snow on christmass untill my grandparents die( sad but true) because we arent allowed to leave family during christmass.

Hi Cathy.
I’m trying to keep my chin up too. I’m all alone for the holidays :frowning: . my son is with his Dad and I’m new to my area so I don’t know many folks at all.

It’s not snowing here, but there’s about 6 inches on the ground and it’s 55 degrees out and the sun shine is beaming through all the windows!! It’s lovely and Yes, I did take the opportunity to go for a nice ride… and without needing a babysitter!

Feel better. My grams used to give us honey and wiskey and lemon. I think it was more to make us sleepy so we’d leaver her alone.

So there’s a ethinic food section at my local grocery store. They have a food from the British isles section. I picked up a sack of stuff that’s a mix for “Irish soda bread” I was thinking of making it. Any idea what should I expect??

Here’s a pic of the sheep farm across the street today. The sheep are in barn eating straw, i did see one walking through the snow earlier this morning.

It’s soo cool here! the snows melting and its 60 degrees out…I LOVE IT!!! I got to BC for 2 whole hours and bounce around on some palletes i found once the snow melted. hope you feel better too!

Well, im kind od depressed also. The forcast for tomorrow is going to be 80 degrees F. It was cooler 2 weeks ago. I wish there was ever a chance of it snowing in Phoenix,Arizona. have to travel 3 1/2 hours to get to it. Any way, I hope you cheer up and the weather improves. I hope you fell better for tomorrow. It always stinks to be sick on Christmas.
Riley:)

It’s been quite rainy the last couple days in the Seattle area. Today the rain stopped, and the temperature actually got quite warm…mid 50s it felt like.

I hope you feel better soon Cathwood. Perhaps a hot cup of tea and some cognac would help?

I’m looking forward to a Christmas Day muni ride.

No snow here yet, but I did get three unsolicited emails offering to show me how to get an extra three inches, so if I get time later, I’ll look into that.

Just had an hour or so on the Coker, down by the river. Cold and grey, and very muddy under tyre. Nice to get a bit of exercise in between all the excessive eating and drinking.

Hope you feel better soon Cathwood. Presumably family rallying round and ministering to your every whim? Tell them your only hope of a cure is to ride your own Coker.:stuck_out_tongue:

Mikefule. I laughed out loud at that first bit. It hurt my throat but was worth it.

Family ministering lots of pressies and some alcohol.

Funnily enough, we did have a white morning this morning - very hard frost and thick fog. Not exactly snow but white at least.

Skytravel is on the TV (don’t ask me why) but i’m sure I just saw a unicycle on an advert for city breaks in New York. Hopefully by tomorrow I’ll be better enough for some gentle riding of my own. A bit of car park fun with my new ice hockey stick I think.

Happy Christmas everyone.

Especially podzol. Enjoy your freedom and don’t get too lonely.

Cathy

Feeling any better as the day goes on?
I hope so. I finished my cold just in time for the holidays.

Last night I did just about the most decadent thing I have ever done. I set up the laptop and the good speakers and watched a whole opera (Mozart’s magic flute) in the bubble bath with a big pot of hot camomille peppermint tea. It was great!! You can’t do that with a six year old asking for food all the time!!

I haven’t decided to open my presents or not ( I got two presents from secretaries at work. Good secretaries are the greatest thing in the modern world besides unicycles with good bearings and the internet. I might wait until after Christmas when Bear, my son is back home to open them. I knew I was naughty this year and Santa wouldn’t get me anything so I bought myself the following:

KH 20 XC
6x6s
cyclometer for coker
Half a trip to Spain in the Spring with my orchestra
A bunch of knitting supplies

I really can’t complain, eh. I’m a stinker. I did get a fwe presents for my son. Including a nicer uni, one of those yellow and black 16" torkers. I worked at a science center as the planetarium host (And we can see Mars Southwest of the moon in the Western sky…) last summer and got 60% off educational toys. I broke the bank for him in July so he’ll have a great Christmas when he gets home, too.

Looks like santa did bring another day af mild weather, so I will go out a ridin’ later on!

Merry Christmas!
