The Viz Rim and my Ultimate Build

Hey,

So I have decided to upgrade from my old behemoth quax yellow in turn for something better and lighter. So far the only thing I have ordered is a blue trials rim from Viz. I really like this rim so far. In terms of looks it's amazing. The color is crazy vibrant and I'm really loving the octagonal holes. It's the lightest rim I think I have come across at 482g. I'll have to wait and see how durable it is, but it seems promising.
To go along with this rim I am building as follows.

Seat-KH street with CF base
Seatpost-Quax reinforced or KH aluminum
Seatpost clamp-Animal singlebolt in blue
Frame-KH longneck(probably stripped)
Hub-Nimbus ISIS
Cranks-Onza ISIS
Pedals-Odyssey twisted pc’s glow in the dark
Rim-Viz duh
Tire-Monty eagle claw

This should turn out epic and under 11 pounds.:D Tell me what you think about the build and the rim.

Oh here’s some pics of the rim.

The pictures really don’t give the color justice. The blue is intense in person.

I was considering getting a Viz rim for my 26 but ultimately decided against it due to its brake wear indicator.

They do look like nice light rims and have great colour but I would be a bit worried about the strength of the sidewall.

Should be great if you don’t abuse your unicycle too much.

I think the rim should hold up. I don’t break things much anyway.

That is a nice rim. Good color choice. How wide is it?

The rim’s 46mm wide, you can sort of see that in the second pic.

I don’t think that big scratch in the first pic does it any justice either  .

Yeah that’s weird. It’s not so much a scratch as it is a wrinkle in the aluminum. I don’t think it will compromise strength or anything but it’s weird.

If youre going for something stronger than a qu-ax, you may be in trouble. haha.

Lol.

I have a Gold Viz rim, I like it. I’ve not done anything huge on it yet though as I’ve been trying to get crankflips done.

Where can you get those? I’ve looked but haven’t seen any.

Edit:Here’s a little fun fact. I was worried about getting shafted by duty rates from unicycle UK. I looked online and found out there is a suspension of duty fees on unicycles coming in to the US at least through 2009. So to anyone in the US worried about duty rates, dont worry;)

Bump!

Hey everybody! I was surprised today when around 10:30 a DHL guy arrived at my door with a box from UDC uk. So I got all my things to build my ultimate trials uni and its awesome! I’m so pumped to get this thing all built up. Right now I’m using my muni frame and seat so it looks crazy. Im planning on getting a CF frame of maybe even a Nimbus Ti. Here are a bunch of sort of fuzzy pics for your enjoyment. :sunglasses:

Damn I almost drooled on my keyboard.
That is sweet!!!

Nice. Not sure on the KH Blue, never have though. Wheel looks good, blue isn’t usually a colour I like, but that rim is nice.

I ordered white spokes yesterday for my Viz rim + Profile hub wheel, so I have the fun of re-building that in a couple of days.

ohhh !
look so sex

Thanks. Yeah the frame is my muni frame so I’m going to change ot out. It’s all I have right now so I’m going with it temporarily. I’m gettin one of those cf frames. It will look even better.

sweet nice uni.Looks like tensiles are reinforced a bit nowadays and you should cut your kh clamp in half to make a single bolt

The “cut your clamp in half” move worked realy well on my XTP when I was in a “weightweenie mood”. But now I prefer a sturdier 2 bolt clamp do to the post twisting. The 10 gram loss wasn’t worth allways needing to retighten my clamp… But you can still try it.

KH clamp: 68g
my Hope clamp: 19g

Saves 49g. Quite a lot for only a seatclamp

Dannis only weights 8g…

Still not worth it for me
