I’m not sure exactly what that means, and I don’t think I want to know.
It looks fun, something interesting to have, a conversation piece, something that makes you feel good about yourself. If you want the word form the horse’s mouth I suggest you check out www.bmezine.com, some of their member testimonials get really deep in to why people feel the need to dramatically modify their body. Just surf with caution, some of the material on this site is very mature/disturbing/gory, kids keep away.
That’s a very tiny part of a relationship, there are men out there who don’t go downstairs, and I would call someone shallow for not getting in to a relationship with them based purely on that.
Infact, to quote form their FAQ:
What are the benefits of tongue splitting?
On a quantitative level the benefits are probably none. It’s hard to
come up with a solid objective reason but, really, we can say that not
only about most bod mod activities, but most elective activities that
humans undertake in general.
At its most base, tongue splitting is cool. It looks neat. It feels neat
to have in your mouth. It’s fun to just flip the halves around. In the
erotic arena, the benefits, with practice, should be obvious for both
men and women — although like most body modification activities, it’s
not a silver bullet. If you’re “good” it can make you better by giving
you a better tool, but if you don’t know what you’re doing it’s not
going to instantly solve your problems.
Many people as well report on the spiritual benefits of tongue
splitting. It’s very hard to explain; it’s one of those “you just had to
be there” stories. To put it simply, the tongue is one of the most
immense nervous structures in your body. We have incredibly fine control
over it and we receive massive feedback from it. When you dramatically
alter its structure and free yourself of the physical boundaries your
biology imposes, in some people it triggers a larger freeing on a
spiritual level.
As in, she cheated on me with about 20 people.
I guess ‘hung off’ is slang for ‘screwed their brains out’?
feels good
I haven’t tried yet myself, but I know some people with a split tongue who keep repeating it really feels good. And … the tongue tends to keep healing, so both halves tend to slowly grow together again, so it is not so permanent as you’d think.
Why would you hate someone because they chose to modify a part of their body? They’re not doing anything to you.
If you have enough holes in your body for you then that’s fine but don’t judge anyone because they want to make some changes. I feel that we are born with a certain body and only have a few choices about the way it ages and grows. What’s wrong with making a few more permanent changes?
Things like that wouldn’t effect my choice of boyfriend one way or another.
Can you imagine having that, then someone tying you up, then getting two pairs of pliers, then pulling the two sides apart, ripping your tongue in half.
Shit I need help…
Don’t worry you can kick the crap out of them with your awesome unicycling skills, and then scare the hell out of them with your tongue.
I think he means “word.”
I suppose you’d be especially good at picking things out of your teeth…
Cathy: I apologize for that post, I was thinking on an immature level whenever I typed it. I wouldn’t ever hate a person for having that done to themselves, but I would think of them as having less respect for their own body, since they feel the need to alter it.
I, for one, accept your apology.
I didn’t really think you actually hated them. But I am a bit surprised at (not just yours) but the other replies. As unicyclists we do something different and don’t like being judged or ridiculed for it. Why do it to someone else?
And lots of people have little respect for their bodies. Mainly because of the pressure society puts on them (us) to be young and beautiful. Lucky you if you are young and beautiful so don’t feel the pressure of being less than perfect.
Pft. I’m not young and beautiful. XD
I’m pretty sure this is directed partly at me, so I’ll try to explain my views. I don’t really have a problem with people who get piercings/whatevers. It’s just that it rubs me the wrong way when people go that “extra step” or whaetever to do something not because they honestly think it looks good, but because they want to be “one of those people”. I won’t try and stop them, of course, but my personal opinion is that it’s stupid to permanently alter your body just because you want to fit in with the crowd that tries not to fit in.
Are you kidding me, do you honestly think someone would do it for that reason alone? Why would you even assume thats why they do it?
Tim: Hey Jim! I finally get to be one of those people!
Jim: What do you mean Tim?
Tim: Oh, I’m getting pierced.
There are many people I’ve talked to (anecdotal evidence, I know) who say one of the main factors in their getting a piercing is so that they won’t have to be like everyone else.
That’s one of the reasons why I ride a unicycle.
people can get used to unicycles. most people at school do when they learn i can do rails. its mostly the teachers that dont:D . but there certainly is a group of people who try to be different yet arent different because there is a group of people trying to be different. if that made sense. there are more goths and emos than unicyclists so we are more different than them even tho their trying to be different.
anyway, im not “trying” to be different. i just find uniing easier, safer and more impressive than skateboarding etc. ie. im in the top 5 street riders for my state. not many skaters can say that.
I think I get what you mean and if I do I agree 100%. Basically you have a problem with posers and fake people who do something purely to fit in? If somebody enjoyed the look of gauged ears and say a split tongue geuinely you wouldn’t have a problem with them? You will find this with just about everything as you probably know. I know kids to just having a skateboard to look cool. Others like a kid I know all of a sudden totally changes got piecing did drugs began to drink and tried to skate, but just carried it around to look like one all to fit in. This is what your talking about right? I would say I am the sore thumb of my school. I started juggling because I genuinely love it just like unicycling I wanted to do both before I even knew what extremes they were taken to. I had no idea so many did it and there was a whole online community who get together to ride and chat. People giving me a thumbs up or good job feels good, but at the end of the day I do both for me no matter what others think. I take so much flack for juggling it doesnt stop me though. If I get my ears gauged it will be the same. So that if I am right you would care about a situation like this?
I think most people agree with that they just didn’t get what you meant fully.
I’m in the top 1 street riders for my state. Not many skaters can say that either.
