The perfect end to the week (ah)

After a pig of a week at work and the rain hammering down with excessive force
for the last 48 hours it was nearing the end of the day. You may detect the
somber tone to this post…

Well, come one hour to knock off time for the week, Roger from Unicycle Source
UK phoned to confirm costs and times for my new uni. Fantastic  As if by
magic the skies cleared and that glowing orange thing in the sky came out. I
forget it’s name - it’s been a seldom sight for a while now

5 o’clock came and I made my way home stuffed a banana in my gob and headed out
on my Pashley to practice some hopping out the back of a nearby barn. Apart from
a sore toe from hoofing the uni a bit too hard things were going well.

Looking to the west I could see over the hills a blazing red sky and headed off
to try and catch the sunset. I fired up the old and now unused single track main
road that runs along side the shiny new 2 lane main road. I was passed, tooted
and waved at by several cars (folks are reassuringly friendly in Shetland) on my
way to the sunset.

It was uphill all the way but the promise of the sun going down over the
Atlantic was a very strong driving force. Anyway, I made it to the top of the
hill and there it was. Breathtaking!

It wasn’t too long before the sun disappeared from view and I set off back
home. Fewer cars this time but 2 folk out walking there dogs were, again,
reassuringly friendly.

So the moral of the story is this… If you’ve spent the week beating your head
trying to debug someone else’s flaky software and it’s been no weather for
riding - go buy yourself a new unicycle and someone up there does the rest

Another great unicycling story from the UK! My hat’s off to you, and Sarah, and
all the others who keep entertaining us with your writing. Please keep it up.
