Go have a drink of something, or a bowl of cereal (dunno why it’s more noticeable in these, but hey).

Why does the first always taste much better than the second?

Maybe because your full after one bowl of cereal. 
it is the power of the first, the first time you have something you get that wonderful sense of satisfaction that you have fulfilled your need, yet if you have it again that magic has worn off and it doesn’t have that ‘first time’ magic
