The Onion

Hi Guys and Gals

This is completely off topic but I thought you would appreciate it anyway.

If you haven’t already been there you should take a look at theonion.com.
It is a satirical newspaper, updated daily. I tend to have a look anytime
I am in the least down. Having just spent the last hour reading it and
literally laughing out loud the whole time I just wanted to share the fun
with others!

BTW… I have NOTHING to do with this website whatsoever! I would hate
people to think I was a spammer.

The site is at: http://www.theonion.com

have fun…tomorrow I order my new Muni, so I am in an extra good mood!

I read The Onion too. It cracks me up every time. My favorites are the guy
who got confused by the buffet procedure at Luby’s and the hamster getting
thrown from the remote controlled monster truck. Herbert Kornfeld and that
stoner kid are pretty hilarious too.

I read the onion too and i agree it is funny. One point though it is updated weekly not daily. If anyone does not read it and they need a little break I would recomend it. There are also printed versions around, usually for free, on college campuses and such. I do like Herbert, the accounts recivable supervisor, or as he likes to call himself “the H dog” also. Another good humor site is www.top5.com which makes a daily humor list kind of like David Letterman’s. You can even get it (and other humor lists) e-mailed to you every day. Like was stated above I am not affiliated with either of these sites other than as a happy consumer. have a good day everyone.

Hi Steve.

Yep…The Onion is updated weekly, my mistake. However, saying that they
have some pretty extensive archives which would allow any newcomer to
visit there everyday for quite a while and still find something new.

The link you sent seemed a lot less funny! Their ‘Biopharmaceutical
Industry Annual Executive Compensation Reports’ Just didn’t offer the
cutting edge, laugh a minute comedy I was hoping for! I think you might
have put the wrong url up mate

The site seems to be completely un-humorous, it company header reads…

‘Top Five Data Services, Inc. Compensation Data & Analysis’

If you have the correct url I would like to take a look at the site you
meant to post about, it sounds like fun.

Onion reader here also. Its really worth checking out, I especially like the way the handled the recent attacks. I thought there would be no way to make it tastfully funny, but they somehow pulled it of.

Ben Plotkin-Swing

I just started reading it today after my friend alerted me to it. Wonder if he read about it here first???

The Duke University study on bad poetry is a hoot.

OOPs, you are right Dave, that should be www.topfive.com not www.top5.com. We both seemed to have missed the mark the first time.

Steve

The coverage of the attacks was what let me to post my origional message.
I especially loved the tv-guide section, for instance…

Animal planet: 11am: Sharks, The terrorists of the sea Public access: 1am:
Extremly uninformed debate.

The NY Times had a good article yesterday on the The Onion and its
handling of humor and the Sept. 11 horror.
