The New Inventors

Greetings my fellow… thread viewers.

Any of you who may or may not live inside or outside of Australia May or may not be aware of a show called “The New Inventors” on discovery science (for those of you with Foxtel, or an equivalent TV service) and on ABC (for those without).

So, as the title suggests, the show is about inventors and their new inventions that they think of. There are many great ideas, like a simple to construct safety feature for mudbrick houses in earthquake prone areas, and some not so great ideas, like an overpriced, motorized floaty device for fishers.

So I’d just like to know what, if any, great ideas you’ve had recently. Or if there’s a project that you’ve been putting off for several years due to lack of concentration, what it is.

I’d like this thread to be about actual, possible solutions to everyday problems, or innovative ones to more complex problems.

I guess I’ll start with mine.

Heat-pack Gloves. You’ve probably seen those little heat packs where you click a metal disc inside and a gel solution crystallizes and heats up to about 57c. My idea would be to put some gel inserts into gloves, they could be used for those who are outside for short periods of time in the really really cold and don’t like wearing thick gloves when they’re inside.

So let the fora see the depth of your creative mind and post you smart, innovative ideas here and let us all bask in each other’s collective genius.

when I lived in Australia 35 years ago there was already an “Inventors” show on TV which was both funny and instructive. people did came with simple and clever ideas.

Yeah, that’s what this show is based on. At the end when they announce the Inventor of the Year they have some of the hosts from the original Inventors show to give them the award and ask some questions and stuff.

Come on, nobody has any cool ideas? Or are you keeping them all secrets so nobody else steals them?

We’ve had those in North America for years

I need my washing machine (or my Dryer, or my Oven) to call me on my cell-phone when they have finished their task.
since we are at it (but less urgent) my cup of tea could also warn me when it is at the right temperature ( a simple beep will suffice).
a real breakthrough could be something that irons my shirts properly (I have it already but the name is “maria-theresa” -Oops sorry-).
I need too to have a wheel that could be folded so I can backpack easily my unis

waw this is extremely politically incorrect! I will not show this to my significant other!
(“maria-theresa” is the house-maid but she is really tired of ironing my shirts!)
