The Mother of all hillclimbs

36 mile ride starting at sea level and climbing to the 10,005 ft. summit of Haleakala on Maui, Hawaii.

Someday, I’d like to do this one. It’s probably not even as hard as Mt. Washington (only 5% avg grade vs. 12% on MW), but it is more attractive in many ways. A comfortable seat would be the key.

You are right that does sound like the mother of all hill climbs. We just did a .5 mile race last week. Not as long, but was interesting:

Distance: Approximately .5 miles.
Climbing: Approximately 350 vertical feet
Grade: Ranging from 10% to 20% (averaging 14%)

It is a race located in Austin Texas, and if you ever get the chance, its alot of fun.
