The Monocycle of the Future

I’ve just been sent the following monocycle link by a friend (I’ve corrected his
terminology):

That was very cool artwork! Was that supposed to be two separate vehicles
racing, or one two-wheeler? In any case, nice art. But I wouldn’t want to be in
one of those things, going 200 mph and trying to make a quick stop…

Yes, Bay area. This means he’s within range of the monthly MUni rides we try to
organize. If you are able to contact him, please let me know so I can invite
him. It will help if he’s actually a unicyclist of course…

Maybe he was inspired by the Nintendo game of the same name?

Yes, I would definitely watch it on TV!

Looks like two separate monocycles to me. I wouldn’t want to be in one of those
things going 200mph with or without the attempt to make a quick stop.

Looks like two separate vehicles to me. I finally found time to peel back the
URL and look at the rest of the site. It’s from a Science & Technology digital
art competition. I found a little more information about it by following the
Gallery link from http://www.taaccl.org/DIGSArtShow/main.htm . It won first
place in the Technology Open Category, and was created by Richard Green of San
Rafael, CA (California I presume). The piece is titled “Uniracers”.

I might run a search for more information on the artist sometime.

It’d be fun to watch though. ;->

I found his CV (including e-mail address) at http://www.artbot.com/resume/

It looks like he’s involved mostly with artwork for computer games and films
(LucasArts). Some of his personal artwork is available on his website - I rather
liked his Valentine image at http://www.artbot.com/personal/index.html

I didn’t find anything to suggest that he might be a unicyclist.
