The local bike shop guy had a laugh!

I went into BIKESPORT in Dearborn, MI today and talked with the owner
Tiathlete/Ironman Tom Demerly and mentioned that I have a 26" Mountain
Unicycle and wanted some pricing on DH tires.

He and the female customer that was with him laughed! Just burst out!

It was really funny that they got such a kick out of it.

Finally they let me know that he had been on a unicycle once but had not
really known about MUni at all.

BUT he had seen some film of “Some guy out on the west coast of
Canada” and that he was doing some wild mountain stuff on his uni. “It
was amazing!”

hehe

It’s nice to know that Kris’s films do reach the ‘unconverted’.

I chatted with him about MUni and I promised to send him some links
online.

It would be nice if local bike stores got into the act.

It’s actually amazing to see how popular Kris has become. In every single
place I go to ride in and around Montreal, I always end up asked if “I am
the north shore guy”/“I am the unicycle dude from vencouver”/“I am Kris
Holm”… Funny thing, even tourists from Europe ask me that :slight_smile:

i recal a coeple of weeks ago i had to take my uni in to get the wheel trued when some of the guys who work there asked me if i have ever heard of some guy named holm somthing kris i think i told them it was kris and that yes i know who it was i gues they had seen him in some biking movie it was pretty cool

last time i went to the shop was for shin pads and pedals.(i smashed my shins one too many times) when there i saw they had New world Disordrer II playing so we fast forwarded to the Kris Holm part. needless to say i got the video too. The people there are quite fimiliar about Kris and have seen about all the videos with him. Then i showedhim my unicycling stuff i learned since last time i was there. when ordering the stuff he asked me about a sponsorship where i would get discouts and team jerseys for promoting thier name so i said sure(took a second because i was still shocked!) if anybody is wondering it is Gravity Warehouse.

I’d say that Kris is know by almost every serious x-country and donwhill
riders and I can tell you that they are a lot. Every time I talk about
unicycling with my pals, they tell me about this crazy guy from the west
coast ! Then I am quite proud to inform them that this guy talks with us
on this newsgroup and that some day, I’ll be as good as him (hmmm…
maybe not quite as good…). Thanks a lot Kris (and all the other extreme
unicyclists) for being a source of motivation !

down in australia, just about everytime a go for a ride and talk to ppl, someone will ask have you seen that video/ that guy/ weirdo etc… i haven’t seen New World Disorder 2 yet, but i hope i can get it here soon. Kris is doing great work in promoting Muni. We have our first ride as the Victorian Unicycling Association next Monday so hopefully it goes well.
