The link from that old Atlantic Monthly article.

Hey Foss;

Is there any way of getting the ‘calweb.com’ link in that old Atlantic
Montly article (http://www.theatlantic.com//issues/97apr/uni.htm) to go
back to your site?

If Calweb is still in existence maybe a group of us could pay to have it
link to your present site in the interest of MUni promotion. ?? Or is
calweb still the ISP for ‘unicycle.com’? In which case it should be easy.

I have just taken a more direct approach. I filled out a feedback form on
the Atlantic Monthly Web site, thanking them for a well-written and
long-lived article, and asking them to update the links in there. If they
are up to the editorial standards I expect they are, they may actually be
able to do it.

For the online magazine I work on (Intel Developer Update:
www.intel.com/update), after the current month’s articles are archived, we
remove all hyperlinks but keep the articles so people can still read them.
Since the Atlantic Monthly has left the links in, I think they may be
amenable to updating them, even on an article over four and a half years
old. Especially after I mentioned how important this article has been to
the growth of our sport!

Yes, Calweb is still in business, but I have no interest in paying them to
maintain a forwarding account, and I’m sure they are not interested in
doing it for free. Fortunately the other link in the article still works,
and anyone who really wants to find out more can just start typing into a
search engine and find us pretty easily.

Hey Johnny Boy! I checked the link just now and they changed it!

Good on ya! I hope it helps a bit. I’m glad you thought of it.
