the "Lifestyle" of unicycling.

everysport has a lifestyle. skateboarders=punks/rockers, BMX really big stupid perves, so what is unicyclings? give your defenitions.

I have a feeling that your BMX lifestyle is a biased.
But Unicyclist’s are anti-circus tech savy nerds.

i think that sums it up, but also cool anti-circus tech savy nerds. with great balance and mad skills

Fixed. Non-issue. Unicycling isn’t really marketed, so it hasn’t such a thing.

Fixed. Idiot.

Yeah, were all cool.

i always felt like it was a “chill” sport. i dono about yall though.

This is the type of thing that will only lead us to becoming like ‘sk8ers’…

You lose. Half the fun of being on these forums is that we’re all different, but [mostly] all cool.

After my last ride with a group of unicyclists of various ages I would say that there is no lifestyle of unicycling.

I would also argue that your definition of skater and bmx lifestyles are extremely biased and reflect more your area you are living in. In my experience you really can’t generalize a sport’s lifestyle, there are just too many people that aren’t going to fit into that. I used to skateboard for about 7 years, in that time I encountered sooo many different groups that skated. Anything from stoners, to gangsters, to nerds, to jocks. I don’t really know too many bmxers but from the bunch I have met and hang out with at the skatepark sometimes they all seemed like a really nice bunch of guys.

Sports such as this are something that brings people of all callings together. I found I didn’t notice it until I started going to larger skateparks and the like. When you see a group of skaters or bikers at a spot or just a small local skatepark you usualy see a group of friends who had other interests that brought them together and their sport of choice became something that evolved out of them already being friends, so you tend to notice that group and not that sport.

we’re polite and friendly sometimes we’re hella Bitchy others times we’re nauseatingly nice. but we’re mostly awsome

unicyclists like sweet music. and are nerdy in a cool way. that’s why TMBG can’t be beat

We don’t have a general lifestyle. A lot of skaters skate because they want to fit into the whole punk/rock image. We unicycle because we want to, not because we’re trying to conform to a social norm. Asking what general lifestyle unicyclists have would be like asking what lifestyle is attributed to those who eat a lot of cheese.

We don’t have a “lifestyle” until the marketers sell one to us. We’re just normal people for now.

We’re anything but normal, Mr. Boo.

Skateboarding isn’t punks/rockers, 99 percent of people that actually skate are very nice, helpful people. It’s the poser’s that try to skate just to look cool that are punks. those aren’t real skaters though.

If there were to be a certan ifestyle for unicyclists then i will quit. I like not being normal.

i don’t know about that… unicycling may be a little quirky but it seems pretty normal to me overall.

I’d say not so much a life style but a couple of things in common, such as liking a challenge and the ability to withstand other’s ridicule whilst doing something different.

Let’s see. Are we trying to create a pigeonhole for unicyclists? Then we either have to make a definition that fits all unicyclists, or create an attractive-looking pigeonhole that everyone will willingly jump into.

We have a few things in common. We like to do things that are hard (well, at least one), and we aren’t afraid to stand out, or be different. That’s going to make us hard to nail down.

Market to me all you want. I get about 150 spams a day as it is, not to mention all the credit card, home loan and insurance offers that crowd my mail box every day. I’d much rather throw away marketing that’s related to my hobby!

Who says punks/rockers arn’t very nice, helpful people?

I take offence to that! If the BMXer’s you have met are how you describe them, you have obviously not met a real BMX dude!

I think every unicyclist has their own lifestyle, and thats what makes us unicyclists!

Rock on!
