My roommates and I just bought this beautiful '78 Ford LTD Wagon. It was $100, so we each paid $33.33. It runs fine, and only has minimal non-surface rust. It should fit the entire Hell-on-Wheel gang with unicycles. Will probably paint it black with flames. This picture doesn’t really do justice to the hugeness of this car.
Re: The Hell-on-Wheel-Mobile
for a HELL-ON-WHEEL-MOBILE it most definately looks the part
I suppose you’ll be using longer cranks on that?
Woah
That looks awesome! Have the roommates agreed to make it the Hell-On-Wheel mobile?
that is one beast of a car!
Keep us updated…!
Cheers,
Joe,
“doesn’t really do justice to the hugeness of this car”… good grief! It looks enormous in the picture!
Hang on, I’m just going to see if I can see it from my window…
Phil
Re: Woah
More or less. We’ll definately use it for muni trips. Kenneth is still a little ify about the flames though.
ok
Hopefully he will agree with the flames. Are you going to get Hell On Wheel painted on it if Kennith agrees?
Most Excellent Frank!
Fear (or laughter) will be struck in the hearts of the innocent when that monster rolls by.
What are you going to paint it with? If you get it professionaly done it’ll cost way more than what you paid for the car. Won’t it?
Maybe you can use spray paint, and some sort of clear overcoat.
It’ll still make a great gang vehicle, with or without flames.

Wow! What an amazing deal. My brother bought a car for $1200, and it hasn’t worked right since he got it. I can’t wait to ride in that monster of a vehicle.
I’ve been meaning to contact you Richmond folks. I’m up in Fairfax, VA. and I’m all alone. We should get together for a ride sometime.
I don’t know if your brave enough to task that hoopty with a drive to northern VA, but maybe we could meet somewhere halfway.
get together
Nbrazzi-Sounds good to me. There are quite a few of us here in Richmond. At least 6 or 7. Most of us are in High school now, except Frank(hell-on-wheel) so the best time would probably be a Saturday, I assume.
Sam- your comment about JWs car sounds like you doubt that the Hell On Wheel Mobile will work at all. I know what you meant, though.
Nbrazzi,
My hometown is actually Dumfries, near Woodbridge and Manassas. I’ve been attending VCU down here in Richmond, but I’m transferring to UVA in the fall. Next time I go home I’ll send you a PM.
I’ve been meaning to ride the Mt. Vernon trail again. I’m also hoping to ride the C&O tow path sometime this summer. There’s plenty of great muni trails throughout PW Forest Park, too.
The rest of the gang gets out of school in mid June, so maybe we could all get together sometime after that.
Frank
Re: The Hell-on-Wheel-Mobile
Sorry, Hell-on-Wheel, but you say, “beautiful '78 Ford LTD Wagon”, I say, “antiquated gas-guzzler”.
I congratulate you on your purchase, but…
BUT… !
You have a unicycle, right? Why do you need to burn fossil fuels for transportation?
That car is 25 years (literally, an antique) old!
It’s NOT a Volvo.
Do you really feel safe in it? I’m not trying to be a spoiler… I’m just seriously asking… what’s the point?
What’s the point of having/driving that bucket of bolts that merely sucks up Iraqi oil?
Hope I haven’t spoiled your fun too much, but the days of American Graffitti are over.
That sounds cool. My favorite place to ride is Fountainhead park, a little north of Woodbridge. Maybe your familiar with it. I’ll probably be doing some of the C&O this summer as well.
My weekend is thursday/friday for the next few months, anyway. So, saturdays probably wouldn’t work for me. We’ll talk.
btw…
any Girraffes among your crew? I’d like to try a girraffe, but don’t really want to buy one at this point. If you guys want to try a Coker, I can let you try mine.
girraffes and cokers
Sorry, no girraffes. A few of us have ridden, er, tried to ride a girraffe, but none of us own one. I would LOVE to ride a coker! I know that all of us would. I want to buy one, but I have no money and at this point, a Muni is higher on my list.
John- I was just saying that I think it is funny that my brother spent 36 times as much on a car than frank, and his has never worked right. I’m sure franks car works and will work wonderfully.
I too would really like to try a coker. I am currently saving up for a KH20, but next on my list is a coker. I sure hope we can ride together soon.

Sam
Which is why I said that I know what you meant. It just didn’t sound like you were saying what you meant. Just wanted to let you know so that you could clear it up so nobodys feelings were hurt or anything.
John
Thats pretty mutch what I did. I wasn’t really adressing you(even though I said I was), I was just trying to clear stuff up.
It looks like we are yelling at eachother, but we aren’t just so everybody knows.
You know what? Maybe I don’t want to ride with you guys. You sound way to confrontational.
