The Grinch Report

I went to see the grinch for the first time last night. I went with a mission:
scope out the unis

I spotted two actual unis and a couple of ordinary bicycles ( penny farthings)
one of which was actually a giant drum. I am sad to say the uni riders in
whoville suck. they suck big time, they suck pig time they suck and suck, all
day they suck they cannot ride, they cannot hide their seats do suck, they fall
in the muck.

ron howard should have called us.

I went to enjoy the movie (which I did), but I still kept my eyes out for the
unicycles.

The first one I saw was at the very beginning of the movie as the camera zoomed
in on Whoville. It was an entirely computer generated guy riding a unicycle!
This was obvious because the way he rode was “unrealistic”. Like watching WWF
wrestling or Mission Impossible 2 fighting.

I glimpsed other unicycles here and there, but very little actual riding was
visible for more than a second or two. The one ride of several seconds was by a
guy on a Schwinn. Mostly the unicycles were parked or laying down.

I wouldn’t say the riders of Whoville sucked, but there was definitely nothing
amazing there either. Besides, how can you compete with Jim Carrey?

RE: The Grinch Report

It just frustrates me that a multi multi million dollar film project would make
due with crappy unicycling scenes, scenes they obviously wanted, because they
were too lazy to email us and say “hey, we need you !” maybe we need to compile
a roster and a list of available skills and send them to talent agents, csa’s
and producers in LA. Tammy, get on it !

Re: The Grinch Report

I actually received an email the summer of '99 from a company doing casting for
the movie. Sent them some of my promo and names of other folks w/unusual
balancing acts (what they requested). I’ve learned to first get Myself hired,
but i’m curious if any of the other folks i suggested got hired. never heard
from them.

On another note…there was an opportunity to teach some actor in L.A. how
to ride a unicycle for a movie. They were interested in hiring me but only
paying me by the hour & I’d have to pay my expenses (transportation &
housing). Maybe one of you folks in the LA area got the job? (maybe it WAS
the rider in the Grinch)

I did get extra work in a movie on my unicycle once…I got an extra $15
for using the unicycle --I think bicyclists got $30 ;-0. (unfortuantely it
got cut too).

I don’t know if we can strike, but if the opportunity arises…
