The Greg Harper Discretionary Thread

This thread progresses only at the discretion of Greg Harper. After each post Greg gets to briefly, pithily, and, hopefully, pointlessly, quip about it.

If Greg chooses not to comment, the thread dies.

Greg?

This seems recursive to me. If I post then I have to respond to each of my own posts in turn until I want the thread to die. Your adjunct to clowning thread was much better thought out than this one. I expect more from you, Raphael, but you never deliver. Maybe you do and it just slips past me like so many things do any more.

Touché.

Excuse me, but I’ll be over in the “your mom” thread if you need me.

Certainly a step up from here. I’m not sure the literate are welcome there, though.

ZOMG HE BROK DA RULZ DA GUY SED MAKE SUR HARPER POSTS 1ST

This is like “self-commenting” code.

At first, I wondered if this thread was legitimate; if Greg Harper actually had any discretion to offer. Just to make sure, I looked up the word.

discretion (d-skrshn) KEY

NOUN:

  1. The quality of being discreet.
  2. Ability or power to decide responsibly.
  3. Freedom to act or judge on one’s own.

If discretion is a quality (and Greg certainly has that), he is anything but discreet.

Speaking as a personal acquaintence of his, Greg definitely has the ability to act responsibility. As for the power to act, we’ll have to ask Karen.

Freedom to act or judge on one’s own? Don’t make me laugh. How long have you been married, Greg? To compound the issue, he’s also a father.

All in all, I guess one half out of three isn’t too bad.

Greg dear, I’m so glad to see that you have a discretionary thread of your own, and that you seem to understand the responsibility you now have for its life. I haven’t been able to devote much time to unicyclist.com lately due to some health challenges, but this thread has given me a new reason to check in more often.

I would change the thread title to “indiscretionary colloquium.” In fact, I think I’ll just read it that way from now on.

Yes, you would.

Yes, you will.

No one dangles my participle like you, my angel.

Harper is the second coolist guy on the forums

I believe that 80% of the correctly spelled words longer than 5 letters on this forum are in this thread. Also, I’d wager that about 50% of the correctly used punctuation can also be found here.

lol dun you ***s no taht u r sposed 2 typ lik this!?!?!?!lols

Due to the high participation rate of certain individuals, this thread does have a lot of admirable spelling, grammar, and punctuation. It’s very soothing to the eye.

And yet the rules of this thread, clear I think despite my apparent lack of precision, have been ignored to the utmost.

Gilby, if you wander in here, would you be so kind as to lock this abortion of a thread?

Ahem, this is a family forum, would you mind concealing your pornographic prose? Thanks!

Such is Just Conversation. Heck, we can’t even keep unicycling threads out of here… what do you expect?

Harpers posts always make me laugh, but I never really know why.

T.

Because you are secretly very sophisticated.

Despite this thread being horribly derailed, I vote that it be allowed to continue as a shining testiment to what all threads should aspire to be - as far as correctly used wordness it concerned - but not so much relating to our dismal following of directions.

In fact, I propose that it be required reading for all new forum members. If their posts do not look similar than we pluck out their eyeballs so that they experience the pain that we all go through when reading their “lolwut” posts.
