The GIMP help, anyone?

Hey guys,
I just installed the gimp and I’ve been trying to use the little “shape cutter thing”. I can select the shape, but then I have no idea how to cut it out or do anything with it, can someone help me? Please?

Thanks in advance.

Edit: I mean the photoshop type program, not a wierd guy in a leather mask.

Bahahaha… I was about to say “You’re a gimp.”

-insert helpful advice here-

sorry i cant help you, but ive got a question, how do i make a picture brighter in GIMP?

the answer to all your questions is: use photoshop.

the only advantage i can see with the gimp is that it’s portable.

Isn’t it just a little bit cheaper?

Google for GIMP tutorials. There are tonnes.

GIMPShop. It’s GIMP re-skinned to work and feel like Photoshop. Free and legal. I use it regularly, and find it quite handy.

I don’t have $649 to burn on Photoshop, and if I did, I wouldn’t be spending it on software that someone else is offering for free. The GIMP gives me all I need in a photo editor… although most of my edits are head-swaps

Step 1) select shape
Step 2) right click to bring up menu
Step 3) Edit > Cut

Step 1) right click to bring up menu
Step 2) Image > Colors > Brightness

Ctrl+c also works for copy, Ctrl+v to paste… same as in OpenOffice or Word, or most other Windows programs

And considering how copying something is exactly the same as in Photoshop as Gimp, does it really matter which one they’re using if they don’t know? That’s like saying “How I turn steer a Honda?” and someone answers “Drive a Ford!”

only if both are aquired legally

*i do not condone the illegal copying and distribution of computer software.
