The Drums Thread

I’ve been playing for about two years now. I took lessons for about a year and I’ve been playing about a year since. I have a pretty good drumset that I bought from a friends for $300. I have silencers and about five different drum pads. I use Vic Firth 2B sticks. Does anyone else play?

hooray

yes, ive been playing for 6 years now. im also on the drumline at my school. right now im working on learning an ensemble called ku ka ilimoku and a solo for drumset called downside up. sometimes i get together with some guitar and bass players at my school and we play some songs on the radio and whatnot. ive got a pearl elx export series kit, and paiste cymbals (20’’ ride and 16" crash and high hat of course.) I recently broke the high tom head, so im working on replacing all my heads with Evans ec2 two-ply’s. yay. i also went ahead and bought a nice sturdy kick head while i was at it. but i havent switched em over yet :o . so yea i gotta do that too. ive got too many sticks to count, yet i cant ever seem to find a matching pair  hmm…

I don’t play (at least not well, I can lay down a couple real basic beats), but whats a silencer and hows it work?

Ive been playing for about 4 months now.

Ive got double bass down, with either two feet or one. Doing slides, heel-toe, heel down, heel up. Love to play in polyrythmics.

I dont have a drumset, and I dont care what stick I am using.

This thread has already been made. Please use the search feature next time.

well he wanted to make a new one!

Yeah I dont play set, but I do play hand drums.
yeah that was a worthless post…

Chase

i still dont do double bass. i stick to one pedal only. kinda like unicycling. using only one is just harder and more fun. lol. ok maybe not more fun.

and im not sure what u mean by polyrythmics. do u mean syncopation?

lol. I have the same problem!!!

Silencers are are like drum pads that fit over the snare, toms, and cymbals. They make it a lot quieter.

I’ve been playing for about 5 years and I play a Tama Swingstar.

I can do bass and double bass with just one foot, but I like having two to allow me those 32nd note runs. =p

Polyrythmics are weird to play, a simple one is 5\4. That’s the time signature. 5 quarter notes in a 4 quarter note measure.

PS. Cool thing about double bass pedals, is that you can play them just like a snare. Paradiddles, flams, all that good stuff. lol

i play,
taught myself, and built my own E-kit.

Brain is an Alesis DM5, and i play with Vic Firth 5B sticks, all wood.

I haven’t ever really played on nylon/plastic ends.
