Anyone else read this book series by C. S. Friedman? I’m currently going through it for the second time, and it’s quite close to moving up to my favorite book(series) of all time, even above the Belgariad.
If they made a movie version of this series, that would be soooo sweet.
Yeah, I’ve read the Mallorean…quite frankly, I wouldn’t recommend it. It’s basically a carbon copy of The Belgariad with less surprises and a new continent. The same characters, the same jokes, the same inner strife within Garion, and the ending of the 10th book is so predictable I almost laughed.
However, the “11th and 12th books” of the whole series, Belgarath the Sorcerer and Polgara the Sorceress, are both pretty good, diving into the pasts of two of the most kickass characters in fiction.
Just a word of warning, if you decide to try The Coldfire Trilogy, it’s extremely different from Eddings’ style of writing. It’s much darker and is more of a psychological thriller at times than a fantasy book, but it’s very unique and enthralling.
