The boy rides

You read his note in the other thread. He talks the talk. Here he is, walkin’ the walk! He just started riding without support yesterday.

thats cooL. how long did i take him to learn? is that the new torker cx 16"?

We’ve been working on and off since June. And yes, brand new torker 16" !

give that boy a cookie.

SWEET! how old is he? AWW… Look at the concentration

Yeah, he can really focus. he’s 6.

We went out and got a huge icecream sundae after he rode 15’ yesterday. Party time, definitely!

Congrats! There are few things in life sweeter than a simple ride around the block with your progeny, especially on one-wheelers!

wow… he’s much better then my whole family if he rode 15’.My family(mainly my dad) has been trying to uni since Christmas of 2004.(he still cant uni 2’ on his own:D )

It’s a moment every parent looks forward to!

Congrats!!

Billy

Wow… thats pretty awesome.
I bet since you sarted him so young you’re an avid unicyclist, he might be the next ryan atkins, etc.

That is so cool! Congratulations!

yeah if he sticks with its and you get him into trials, freestyle, muni soon… then hes gonna be SUPER good one day

Chase

I wanna ride with him! He could probably school me so bad. XD

Thats really great. He looks very focused.
Now I can’t wait to see in about a week him doing a 8 pallet seat out hop with a perfect tuck.
Congrats.

Yeah, he can be like that kid (his name was Spencer) that passed level 10 before he turned 10 years old (I think).

Right On!!!

Congratulations to The Boy, and to his teacher. You have lots of fun riding together ahead!

Thanks!!

You folks are so great! I’m glad I’m on this forum with you uni-sympathizers!

I too was thinking that if he really likes it, he can get pretty good pretty fast. What’s most important, of course, is that he has fun with it. (my overzealous side says: it’s fun to be good at something, too. )

We’ll both be at the conference in Memphis so I’m hoping he’ll be able to meet up with some of the young riders there.

LOL. Yeah, there will be some fire under my arse to stay ahead of him! He won’t catch up with me too quickly (a “famous last words” scenario).

If you are thinking of the same person I am thinking of (kid from Minneapolis), he was pushed extremely hard into it by his parents, and pretty much gave it up after making level 10.

Anyway, Podzol, that is great. My 8 and 10 year old sons have been riding a while. We have another who is 1 and who the other two boys think will learn to ride when he is three. He has his own unicycle already, but all he can on it at this point is drool.

It’s a KH unicycle, then?

That’s sad about Spencer. Maybe he will be able to transfer the discipline that he learned unicycling onto somthing that he naturally loved. I was pushed as a kid, too, at swimming. I hate swimming now! I try to be very conscious of my parenting that Bear (my son) learn things for the sake of being ethical and being happy.
