Thanks NY UNI and John Foss

Wow, I just kinda stumbled onto this site. To my amusement, I see some people I
have learned from in the group, and one of the people who first got me
interested in unicycling, John Foss. First of all, the first meeting of the NY
Uni Club was pretty cool, and I picked up some pretty good tips. I encourage
anyone who can attend to come to the Central Park Band Shell on the 17th.
Secondly, thanks to John Foss. I first became interested in uni after digging
out my dad’s old uni from his closet. It was a 24inch Royce Union (before
Schwinn began getting into uni). I was too small to ride it, but was determined
to get one of my own. After saving my money, I purchased my 20inch Semcycle,
which i still ride today. Like many hobbies i had, if i couldn’t do it right
away, i got frustrated, and gave up. A month later, i found Unicycling.com which
is run by John Foss the Unicyclone. After seeing all of the cool pictures, and
amazing things that some of the people were doing, i got back into unni, and
still ride to this day.

Thanks! And I wish the new NY Uni Club much success. If you started out in
January, it looks like you’re the kind of guys who will stick with it!

I have ridden at the Central Park Bandshell. We had an event there called
“Circus Fest”, which was hosted there by the NYC Parks & Rec in 1988 and 1989.
In 1990 they did one at Flushing Meadows Park.

The Central Park Bandshell area is also historic. The first known unicycle
“meet” in the US was held there in 1971, before the Unicycling Society of
America was founded. The conventions we have today are based on the legacy of
that first meet.

Stay on top in NYC, John Foss, the Uni-Cyclone http://www.unicycling.com
